The actor playing Tywin is Charles Dance, who always plays great villains and semi-menacing types.
Ah! He was the bad guy in Last Action Hero! heh.
I think the actor playing Varys has been standing out this season. Hopefully he gets more face time (producers: please don’t cut his story to Tyrion on how he became a eunuch in favor of more scenes with invented prostitutes).

Those are so beautiful I can almost resist the temptation to correct the spelling. Qarth! But seriously, I’d love to have some of those framed. Her Scott Pilgrim and Agora pieces are gorgeous, too.
Saw this on another forum. Lol’d:
The Ned-Al one cracked me up the most.
Oh my god he is. Haha. Show is ruined.

It missed one, George W Bush as Hodor. “Hodor.”

Why does no one ever remember The Golden Boy…
Or Alien 3. Oh yeah, never mind.
Wow, really get a sense of how they’re starting to shuffle events around. The Tickler is dead, which sorta sucks since his demise is one of the awesome moments of Book 3.
And I loved Arya’s look at the end. She’s like a kid who just realized they’ve got an awesome new toy. She can kill with a word.
I’m so glad they didn’t kill off Doreah. Roxanne McKee is haaaaaaaawt.
A dude really enjoyed that episode.
It’s obvious that they’re accelerating the heck out of Arya’s storyline.

Looks increasingly likely there will be no Tullys or Jojen and Meera this season. Ah well.
I liked this episode except all the natural sunlight streaming into the pyromancer’s warehouse. Nice to see Roy Dotrice though. And Dolorous Edd is not getting enough love.
This episode mentioned the House of the Undying. I’ll hurt someone if they don’t show that, though it’s going to be significantly changed from the book if they do.

They’ve been setting up the House of the Undying so I think that they will show it.

“Anyone can die.” - Arya.
Hot damn, what a scene.
Well this episode went about as well as one could expect. I’m glad my fears about the method of Renly’s death were unfounded (and fairly spot on, though I think it was much more violent in the book).
It’s possible that Jojen and Meera will show up in the next episode or two, possibly fleeing Deepwood Motte (since Yara or whatever mentioned attacking it, what, 1-2 episodes ago?) and attempting to find shelter. Or maybe Osha will kind of serve as that role for all of them moving forward… which would mean Rickon and Bran staying together… err. hmm.
I dunno why “Reginald” Lannister was in there or why he exists, other than to just get kicked out by Tywin. Maybe something down the road I suppose…
“Anyone can die.” I’M LOOKIN AT YOU TYWIN.
I didn’t like how it was Cersei who came up with the wildfire thing. I’m pretty sure this is not how it transpired in the book and it makes no sense to really take the gestation of the idea away from Tyrion, though he did circumvent it.
Oh yeah, and Loras was a firm believer than Brienne had done it, and had to have some sense knocked into him later on by Jamie, so the part where he was actually defending her was a bit odd. It would have been better if he had blamed her, as to make Jamie look better later on.

I might have to watch the episode again to try and get more out of it, but my first impression was one of a bunch of disjointed scenes with few if any themes in common. I know they are trying hard to squeeze in as many plot-points as they can and wrangling an increasingly-large (and confusing) cast of characters, and I appreciate the efforts… but I’m worried about some of the little stuff getting lost.
Take Harrenhall for example. I am actually a big fan of replacing Roose Bolten with Tywin Lannister - great actor and an interesting character that should get more screen-time (and the “everyone can die” line was wonderful). However, I’m saddened by Arya’s abbreviated arc in the castle: her capture, mistreatment by the other refugees, and eventual new role as avenging “ghost” was a great little mini-story in the book and here it seems like it might be relegated to mostly off-screen antics.
We’ll see - I might be worrying for nothing. The girl who plays Arya is excellent and they seem to want to give her plenty of screen-time, so perhaps we will get more and better next week.
On the other hand, the way they are accelerating Theon’s stuff seems to be working out. I also liked how they showed Bran having matured into his role as Lord of Winterfell - the scene where he is distributing orphans rung pretty true.
I thought the Renly death scene was pretty well-done, and I especially liked the scene between Margery, Loras and Littlefinger afterward.
Dinklage’s scenes were good as always. More Bronn is always good.
The Quarth stuff holds little interest for me, but it was nice that they set up the warlocks. I wonder if that’ll be next week or later on?
Was there no gratuitous boobie scene this week? I find myself vaguely disappointed.
I seem to recall that the wildfire was Cersei’s idea (??) but that Tyrion identified that a plan which involves 1) WILDFIRE 2) ??? 3) VICTOLY won’t work due to all the reasons covered.
Of course this sets up Tyrion quite nicely as he won’t get any credit when all his works results in battle won. As for Arya, Harenhall is interesting, but in the end a minor stepping-stone on the way to her destination. It’s important for JH and what she learns about that, but the rest is just interesting fluff that was good to read but no more plot use. We’ve already established that she’s traumatized and changed by the war - now she needs to be on her way once JH has provided his plot point.
