Everyone DOES realize that it was the bad guys who put the good guys heads on spikes here, right? Right?
Don’t you talk about my beloved Joffrey that way! :P
Just putting my 2-cents behind this… The REASON the heads are there is that they were found to be apposed to EVIL people… how is this in any way construed as a negative against the heads?
If ANY “interpretation” can be made of this one instance of the use of an available prop for a fictional TV-series-episode, It’s a COMPLIMENT!
“Wow, just wow” doesn’t even come close…“looking for a fight” is my only explanation.
It’s highly unlikely that the person/people responsible thought it through; it was probably just a prop guy’s stoned “hurr durr let’s stick this prop GWB head on one of those spikes” type of thing. It clearly wasn’t thought through in the realization that lots of conservatives probably love the show too. Or (more likely) they probably just thought that conservatives are so dumb and unobservant that they wouldn’t notice.
(Hasn’t Martin had some trouble himself with conservative fans - i.e. in that he has them but doesn’t want them? I seem to vaguely recall some foofaraw about that.)
this one I had noticed and is not a compliment in any way ;)
I’ve followed his website over the last decade and don’t recall him saying that. But he did post “winter has come to America” after the 2004 elections, which caused Republican-leaning fans to hurl shit his way. To which his reply was basically, “I’m allowed opinions, it’s my site, fuck off,” though probably worded a bit more poitely.

They didn’t notice. It only came out through the DVD commentary.

Game of Thrones and P&R! So on topic!
The King of the North goes gay!
Contains Gif, spoiler tagged due to suggestive language
From the show Sirens, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5JSR3Fque0 (link also NSFW, nothing explicit but probably not something you want a coworker walking in on)
Heh I love when famous people use that as a defense, but ignoring the fact that the people who are yelling at them also are allowed to have opinions.
The “It’s my site” part is the important line of that quote. Anyone is allowed to have an opinion, but there is no Constitutional language that guarantees someone else has to finance your soapbox.
They blazon their arms with barry red and pink, three golden crowns on a black chief
That (at first appearance) red, white and blue picture, is pretty close to the official description of red, pink and black.
Speaking of Game of Thrones getting political… Attack Ads from Westeros.
I, Partridge. It’s an “autobiography” of Alan Partridge, read by Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge.

Well Obama wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense unless they’ve been hiding a lot of black dudes in King’s Landing that I’m not aware of.
Shit ton of casting announcements at ComicCon just now.
Diana Rigg is the Queen of Thorns(!!!)
Jojen is the kid from Love Actually (well, he’s grown quite a bit since then)
Meera is Ellie Kendrick, who played Anne Frank in the recent BBC miniseries.
And we have Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, the Blackfish, Edmure Tully and more!

I was looking up some of the characters shown in that You-tube clip when I came across this.
Martin lost the 2001 Hugo Award for Best Novel to J. K. Rowling.[2][3] Afterwards he made this comment about his fans: “Eat your heart out, Rowling. Maybe you have billions of dollars and my Hugo, but you don’t have readers like these.”[6]
Freakin’ Diana Rigg. Wow.
Jojen I think perfectly cast, honestly. He looks kinda freaky looking. Thoros of Myr, not bad. Beric, not the dude who showed up for five seasons in season one, but ok, fine.
