I expect that unCat will be the closing shot of ep10 for the reasons above - Beric is not a character people are going to remember come next year, but they’ve pushed him far enough to the fore with the Sandor fight and exposition about Thoros’ return to faith with Melisandre that when he shows up people will have seen him recently enough to go “oh yeah, that guy.”

I think we’ll see Robwind and Cat go in the water, some Dany, the attack on Castle Black, Jon and Ygritte’s denouement, (I expect with one of them doing the denouing), and then the final shot will be unCat opening her eyes. And roll credits, see you next year.

The only scene Cat should be in next episode is one where her naked body is thrown into the river. Dies one episode, alive the next sounds more like Heroes.

Doesn’t Beric die in one episode, and is alive the next?

He’s not a character that most people would be emotionally invested in. For me it would just take away from the impact of the Red Wedding if she is back the next episode. I’d rather she be dead for almost all of next season and then they hit you with it.

Book Readers didn’t have to wait a year; they only had to wait 330 odd pages. For most, that was FAR less than one week’s wait in the real world, let alone one year. The Red Wedding’s “impact” seemed to be untarnished by that short passage of time.

I would not be surprised if UNCat’s eyes opening is the last scene in S03E10 before the credits.

Book readers also got satisfaction out of Joffrey and Tywin biting it. Have you seen the YouTube videos? The non-readers were gutted. They need some good news. Besides, Robb “Wolfshead” Stark is going to twist that knife further.

If they toss her body in the river at the beginning of the episode then I see them resurrecting her at the end. Don’t give the non-readers a lot of time to figure that twist out for themselves.

I also wish they hade made it more clear that this isn’t simple resurrection. All those gnarly scars aside, Beric seemed pretty healthy. Dondarrion was supposed to be almost a walking corpse at this point. You don’t get better. In that way, it’s not Cat Stark come back from the dead, but her corpse motivated by otherworldly forces.

Cripes, I just re-read the entire series last year and I still found myself struggling to remember some of those characters.

I could see them doing something like the unCat book reveal as the last scene. (group) of Freys riding horses joking about RW. Get ambushed by BwB, kill group, keep leader alive. Dialog w/ Thoros (about where Dondarion is). Toss the rope over a tree. Pleading from Frey. Hear Cat’s voice. Rope goes taunt. See Cat’s face.

This. Or at least something very near to it. That is a scene that would give most people devastated by last week’s episode some renewed hope. I think we’ll also see Dany in her role as liberator of yet another slave city, with the connotation being that she is coming to Westeros for some serious ass-kicking soon. I think we will see Sam and Bran meet, which means Sam and Gilly will end the season on the “safe” side of the wall. They might even play around a bit with Sansa learning of the Red Wedding then Petyr Baelish extending his offer of friendship and escape from her situation to give people hope for yet another Stark child.

Not sure if they will do the attack on Castle Black now. It seems like a logical next step for Jon in the upcoming episode, but that is not a terribly uplifting scene. Perhaps the producers have vastly underestimated the power of the Jon-Ygritte shipping going on in the TV viewerverse? Could be some more bitter internet tears on the way.

You are an awful person.

They’re not going to do Castle Black this week. There’s not enough time, and they haven’t set up any tension at all for it. We will see Ygritte, though, that’s clear according to the preview.

Besides, GRRM has been recounting the story of him hanging out with three cast members at the Season 3 premiere and then suddenly feeling guilty that he killed off all of their characters. He said one actress, who renames unnamed, asked him not to kill her off because she loves the show, and he was “you’re already dead” in his head. By process of elimination, that actress was probably Rose Leslie.

The big chunk of this episode will be with the Lannister reaction. Jamie comes back, Tywin’s role will be revealed, and Joffrey gets really uppity now that he thinks he’s won.

Bran and company get to the Nightfort and will probably tell the tale of the Rat King as a ghost story. Why the Rat King? Because it’s the story that hammers home how unspeakably offended the gods get if you betray guest right. Plus, the Rat King is the one who haunts the ruins, which will set up the scary moment leading to Sam.

Ramsay Bolton will finally be revealed for what he is (if you haven’t figured it out already, aka, Bolton’s sigil and that cross that Theon’s been lashed to.)

Then we have to deal with the freeing of the slaves of Yunkai, which is supposed to be pretty epic (they had 1,000 extras).

There’s no time for a battle in all of this.

I think Cat coming back is a good teaser for the audience. That whole “What the…how is she still…payback time!” thing might excite nonbook readers. Balanced against that is that she won’t be the same person, her family is still wiped out, and the Starks still lost their war. If that scene involves the mass slaughter of Freys, that could be considered an ‘up’ moment. But the problem is other than the old guy, and maybe even his daughters, the tv audience doesn’t really know any Freys. It’ll just be the killing of a bunch of faceless Frey minions, which doesn’t seem all that satisfying to me.

If I was going to do that, I’d just have it end on her resurrection. That way the suspense for the audience is wondering if it’s a good thing, a worse thing, and what does it mean overall(what will she do)? If they show her in on an attack against Freys, that kind of gives away the game right off.

And certainly, when it comes to predictions one must say thatHodor: Hodor

No? :D

Ya, I could see that. Though I was struck that all Frey minions have been wearing a very consistent frey hat. I imagine to deal with just that type of issue with the audience.

I imagine Jon will get back to Castle Black and get imprisoned for the last episode. Showing unCat makes sense.

Don’t think that’s going to happen yet (the Jon part - I agree UNCat opening her eyes in a mean-ass, spiteful glare is the final scene of the season). In the book, Jon is imprisoned after the assault on the Wall, not before. They aren’t enough men who can swing a sword at Castle Black to be imprisoning anybody yet; moreover, Jon Snow commanding the defence of the Wall is THE central event in the North during A Storm of Swords and directly leads to his becoming Lord Commander. Jon’s imprisonment is for later – when Janos Slynt and Alliser Thorne show up. That’s for the later part of Season 4.

Uhm… I’m not as bad as GRRM? That whole situation beneath “Weirwood Hill” in the Caves of the Children of the Forest is NOT going to have a happy ending. GRRM is channeling a shit-ton of Grimm’s Fairy Tales in that part of this saga and cannabalism is running rampant there. Hell, Bran may already have drunk Jojen’s blood at this rate. Jojen has certainly foreseen his own death and he knows it is close. I don’t see that turning out well for Bran and Co… Only way out for 'em is if Bran Wargs something that’s big, scaley and flies (which may well be the way out for Meera).

I think episode 10 will close with something like the Freys tossing Cat into the river, a slam on the Tully burial ritual, where she is later dragged out by Nymeria with maybe Beric and company stumbling upon that, or her body. I am not sure if they will show her resurrection or her alive at all.

My buddies think that EP 10 will close on the Wildlings advancing on the wall, sort of reminiscent of the ending of S2E10 where the Others ‘army’ was shown.

The North Side is stuck hard in my head.
