Did that a while ago, you’re in for a real treat.
Although, there’s something almost hallucinogenically intense about watching boxed sets all the way through. It’s a very modern, unprecedented phenomenon, and I wonder what it’s doing to our brains …
“What the fuck is a Lommie?”
Quite possibly one of the best lines this show has ever had.

Arya continues to be just as badass in the show as she is in the books. Great opening episode. Tons going on, only a couple of new characters (and who doesn’t love Oberyn?) and a fine way to end it.
Never read the books so this is all new to me and yes Arya is amazing.
What happened to Daario? He looks completely different.
I forget but they had to sign up a new actor to play him.

I was totally confused by that, i thought it was a new character.

The Hound-Arya scenes are some of my favorite, I liked his line about only cunts naming swords (paraphrasing) better than the Lommy one. The Oberyn actor did a great job. Joffrey though, man, that guy should win every award there is for acting. He just keeps fucking nailing it. The way he delivered his line about someone having forgotten to write down Jaime’s great deeds was completely perfect.
I like the series better than the books and I am convinced it will wrap up before the books do. I have given up on them at this point.
FWIW I was not a fan of the Blood and Fire red ale. But I am pretty hard to please when it comes to beer. I like sours these days and thats about it.
Don’t know if anybody ever watched Treme but me but the new Daario is Michael Huisman, who was most recently on that. And maybe it’s just my bias for that show talking but I like him better already.

Who was the former knight who trailed Sansa on the trail? HBO Go had an optional info bar that popped during certain scenes but I siding see one this episode and I can’t recall if
that guy was in a previous episode.

Sir Dontos - he showed up late and drunk to a fight on Joffrey’s birthday. Sansa begged for his life, and he was made the court fool instead of being put to death.

Honestly, I don’t like the Daario change…the new guy looks like a stock actor from any medieval-themed show on nowadays. He did a good job, but they really need to dye his hair multiple colors. Lots of awesome besides, though…Arya and the Hound ending the episode and them riding down the road…perfect. I was not a fan of a lot of the landscapes until that very last scene. Nice.
The previous Daario got the gig to be the new Jason Statham in the Transporter reboot. So they needed to recast.
Did the guy playing Podrick Payne change as well? Looked a bit different in that second scene with Tyrion and Bronn.
Still Daniel Portman. He looks like he has a different haircut. Makes him look older than before. (His dad played Ser Rodrick.)
As much as I love Dinklage as Tyrion, I keep wishing he had a better ear for the accent he’s supposed to be doing. He’s tantalizingly close sometimes but then he says another few words and hits one that doesn’t sound quite right. In this respect, Zellweger as Bridget Jones he ain’t.
By now, that’s part of his charm for me. It makes him seem a bit exotic, like it’s some special ancient court pronunciation that his learned self is using or something.
I wish they had at least cast someone that had the same hair color. The whole casting issue with The Mountain was one thing. At least the two Gregor Cleganes were big guys with dark hair. This casting is just ridiculous.
As for the rest of the episode, it was great. Good pacing.
Ser Dontos - Did he give Sansa the necklace in the book? I don’t remember.
I can’t remember, is this thread basically safe to read for those of us who are just watching the show and don’t want anything spoiled by book talk?
This thread has always been filled with book talk. There is a non-spoiler thread.
