Yes, toward the end of book 2 Dontos handed Sansa a hairnet that she wears during Joffrey’s wedding celebration.

Ah, thanks. I thought Olenna Tyrell gave her the hairnet just before the wedding. I know she “adjusts” it.

Hound: “They’re going to feel pretty stupid when they find out.”
Arya: “Find out what?”
Hound: “That they’re screwing with the wrong people.”

Well I was able to DVR 17 episodes of GoT from HBO over the weekend. From midway thru the second season to the new one. Now I just need some time to watch them.

Awesome.

Just saw this - Arya and the Hound are awesome! That exchange in the woods was just so great.

Its good to be back.

Found this link earlier today on where did Daario go??

Somewhere, in an alternate universe, there is a television series about a hideous, murderous warrior, and a murderous little girl. They gallivant around the countryside, bickering, eating chicken, and occasionally kill folks who are somehow more loathsome than they are. And it is wonderful.

(We need a Courtship of Eddie’s Father mashup, stat).

I had never seen Game of Thrones until recently. I loved the books and figured the show could never do them justice, so I skipped the first season. Before the second season started, we cancelled our premium channels since it was running us $15 a month for HBO alone but we were almost never watching it.

A couple of weeks ago, Time Warner offered 3 months of free HBO, Cinemax, and EPIX with no commitment to keep them after the 3 months period. Kinda hard to pass that up. They had all 3 seasons of Game of Thrones on their On Demand system (they’re there until April 21st). My wife and I decided to check out the show, see what all the fuss was about. It took us 11 days to watch all 30 episodes… I haven’t binge watched a show like that since Breaking Bad was first released on Netflix.

Such an amazing show. A little heavy on the nudity, which I guess is just them saying “hey, we know you like naked people in True Blood, so here’s a bunch more!”. Outside of that, it is a near perfect adaptation of the books; the changes they do make for the sake of TV are well thought out and not there just for crowd pleasing.

My wife hasn’t read the books. It’s been almost as much fun watching her reactions as it has been watching the show itself. When Ned was beheaded, she turned to me and said “dude, what the F? They can’t kill off Boromir!” Since then she’s learned not to get too attached to characters. Still, the red wedding got quite the reaction from her as well.

That’s terrible logic; Sean Bean always dies, including when he was Boromir.

I watch the completely awesome scenes between Arya and the Hound and I think to myself what the actors must feel like acting those out. I can’t believe they were able to film this past episode’s scenes without at least one actor cracking up at some point. I picture Rory McCann delivering the “What the fuck is a Lommy?” line and precious Maisie Williams just bursting out with uncontrolable giggles. Even though I know better (it is Game of Thrones after all), I never want Arya and the Hound to end.

Q: How do you know Sean Bean’s going to die in a movie?
A: Sean Bean’s in it*.

[SUP][SUP]*Usual National Treasure exception included.[/SUP][/SUP]

I was really glad it was back and then really, really glad it was a great episode to come back with. The Hound and Arya were the highlight, but I also enjoyed Jamie’s various interactions with his family and Brienne too and Oberyn’s conversation with Tyrion.

I binged watched the first two seasons - having to wait seven days now for another fix is a killer.

Last night’s episode garnered 6.6 million viewers, which is the largest for HBO since the Sopranos finale. Well I think one initial worry of what would happen to viewers of the show long after the Red Wedding is kind of answered…

And yeah, this is an all-spoilers thread, which includes the books.

Nice! Six seasons and a movie!

Wait, wrong thread…

8.8 million with the repeat viewing later in the evening. Plus, the HBO GO numbers are all screwed up because Go crashed within seconds.

Ratings don’t seem like they’d be such a big deal for HBO, which doesn’t have to worry about selling commercial time to Madison Ave, but it’s still important. The season 3 box set was the fastest selling box set in UK history. Stuff like that matters for when Dan and David ask for more money each season.

That’s 8.8 million people who probably won’t be cancelling their HBO as long as Game of Thrones remains on the air. It’s also 8.8 million people telling everyone who will listen what an amazing show it is.

After watching the show, I’m likely going to be subscribing back to HBO for season 4 (my 3 month free preview will last through the full 10 week season, so I’ll be cancelling at the end of the 3 months). True Blood used to be my “sticky” show that kept me subscribing to HBO, but it going to crap is one of the reasons I cancelled my sub. With Netflix, I really don’t care much about HBO’s movie offerings. It’s all about the original programming now, which is why you’ll likely never see an HBO series on Netflix (which sucks since I still haven’t seen the last 3 seasons of The Sopranos)

That’s what HBO cares about. It likes to dominate the water cooler on Mondays. That gets people who don’t have HBO interested in what they’re missing. HBO doesn’t generally care so much about ratings for most of their original content so long as it’s generating buzz. But if there’s silence? I imagine that’s a big reason why Hung and Bored to Death died. No one ever talked about those shows on the Internet or in the workplace. That’s the kiss of death. Meanwhile, I can remember when Eastbound and Down premiered and we had several meetings just fall apart because people were quoting the shit out of that show and everyone was cracking up.

Shame about the Daario actor, I guess the new guy hasn’t had much to do yet so it would be unfair to criticize him just yet, but so far he seems a bit too mild and dandy-ish, and doesn’t have much of a charismatic “edge” to him like the previous Daario did (if only because he was one of those people who’s both good-looking and ugly at the same time) - and why does this Daario have a dashing beard when Daario didn’t in the last season? At least he could have been clean-shaven for the sake of continuity of confused watchers.

Anyway, apart from that, a cracking good start to the new season, everything settling in nicely. Soooo good to see a Stark put the boot in. It comes to something when one’s kind, gentle and somewhat squeamish ex-wife cheers Arya on as she gruesomly kills a bad guy with the pointy end :)

This chart has been incredibly helpful for me.
