To me, this season feels… cheap. As in “made on the”.
Lots of interior scenes.
No big battles or really brutal fights. Not expecting Blitz of King’s Landing, but maybe a few more extras patrolling in the Dornish gardens.
Seems like the entire season this year is nothing but buildup for the last episode or two. Much like watching an NBA game’s first three quarters is usually pointless.

Not certain but that’s a nice catch.
Of all the things that might have bugged me, the thing that sticks out from the last couple of episodes is Mormont’s plan. He brings Tyrion to Dany, ?, profit!
He doesn’t really know Tyrion right? So he can’t be counting on Tyrion coming up with some clever argument about why Dany needs either of them(Tyrion or Jorah). So “Here’s a Lannister, we’re good right?” is that it?
The pits I can understand. Dany is just starting to allow the fighting pits again. It makes sense to me that her new partner is going to walk her through the entire process, beginning to end. I’m sure his motivation is not to have Dany simply show her face once at the big fight and call it good. He wants her to publicly buy into this entire thing. This also gives him a chance to check her reaction and prep her for the big event. It’d be a lot worse to have her only show up at the big event and then she has a negative reaction and he has to figure out how to deal with it then and there. Where better to do a rehearsal than at one of the preliminary bouts?
As plans go it’s a long way from a sure thing, but when he ran into Tyrion by accident in the first place, taking him to Dany makes sense enough for me. It’d be different if he’d started out actively looking for Tyrion with the idea that it was the best way back into her good graces.
Yeah, he saw Tyrion one night at a whorehouse while he was drinking his troubles away and dwarfnapped him while he was taking a piss. This is not a scheme months in the planning. “Hey, that’s Tyrion Lannister! I bet Dany would want to get her hand around his neck! I should totally kidnap him! OK, I’ve got a dwarf in a bag… now what?”

At first I was bothered by the unplanned surprise gift for Dany, but after thinking about it, perhaps Jorah hopes that Dany will view Tyrion as representative of those who killed her family and she can finally have some justice. Do we know for sure Dany knows Tyrion killed Tywin? I’m pretty sure she knows (or at least believes) that Tywin ordered the murder of all Targaryen relatives in Kings Landing during Robert’s Uprising…or am I confusing the books with the show again?
I was SO looking forward to finally seeing Dany meet Tyrion and what a great team they could make with her Dragons and Tyrion’s mind that I think I was blinded to how Dany might ACTUALLY react to having a Lannister at her feet.
I think even for a makeshift plan, ‘return the wanted man to Cersei’ has more potential payoff than ‘give him to Dany’. I realize Jorah wants to mend fences with Dany it’s just that I don’t see how Jorah thinks this gift will help him in that regard. Even a small insight, such as him saying “A Lannister hostage might be valuable to her in the invasion” would be nice.

Infatuation isn’t conducive to rationality. He’s been rejected by the woman he loves and would die for, I doubt he even gave a thought of returning him to Cersei. Also remember he doesn’t even know Tyrion is a fugitive and would be wanted back in King’s Landing.
Yeah, Mormont isn’t acting entirely rationally. Giving her Tyrion is the Westerosi equivalent of leaving a long, sobbing message on her answering machine.
It makes perfect sense to me. Why did Dany kick Jorah out? Because he was betraying her to the Lannisters, sending them information and working for them in secret. He assured her that he was loyal to her, but she still banished him for his betrayal. What better way to prove you’re no longer in bed with the Lannisters than to bring one of Tywin’s 3 children to her?
I’m more confused on what The Spider was planning. He was bringing Tyrion to Dany to advise her. Was his plan to not tell her who he was? I would think saying “so, hey, the guy I chose to be your right-hand man and adviser also happens to be the son of one of the men directly responsible for your family’s overthrow and say on the council that ordered your assassination. But he’s fine now…” wouldn’t pan out so well.
I thought Varys and Tyrion would be accepted by Dany because presumably Varys has lots of information to provide, which will prove he’s been trying to install a rightful ruler all along. He’d speak on Tyrion’s behalf, pointing out Tyrion is guy who killed Tywin, certainly Dany’s most fearsome foe in her homeland.
Jorah is harder to figure. Sure “Here’s a Lannister for your dragons” is his opening gambit, but then what? It you’re Dany and you’ve just fed Tyrion to the dragons, does that please you so much that you sort of just forget you can’t trust this guy? What about his explanation of how he got Tyrion? “I was drinking in a tavern, there he was, so I took him” doesn’t sound like he really did much does it? I think he’s lucky that she’s shorthanded right now, so I can see her giving him all the crap jobs, so her reliable few allies aren’t at risk.
Well, there’s the season budget.
That was some pretty goddamned good stuff.
That was fantastic, I’m sure it took alot out of the budget.

Amazing episode.
THAT is why I watch this show!
And for as much as the “invented scenes” have drawn the ire of book readers, the show has finally done something in 20 minutes that 5 books worth of content have yet to manage: put the endgame clearly in focus. Mankind is thoroughly fucked.
I also liked the Walker giving zero fucks about fire, which seemed to politely put itself out in his presence. Could this be a clue that dragons alone might not be enough to stop them? Also confirmation that “dragon steel” is a legit counter. That was fucking sweet.

Great episode. Only two left! Gah!
WTF?!? ARMY OF THE DEAD! WE NEED SOME DRAGONS!
THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE.
I was like… I don’t remember this in the books… isn’t Snow supposed to be uhm holy shit!!!
poor giantkin… where’d he go…
That was fucking fantastic. This show may mis-step here or there, but that was fucking fantastic. When you are going to do stuff that isn’t in the books, do it right, like that.
OMG OMG that was fucking awesome. That last action scene was the best the series has had and one of the best “zombie” sequences I’ve seen.
