Meryn Trant was sent off to Braavos a couple of episodes back, with Mace Tyrell - he’s a likely candidate for an offing once he arrives there.

That’s a good catch. It’s probably not a coincidence to send Meryn there - probably killing him is her graduation test.

I think that NOT killing Ser Meryn would be her graduation test. They might be setting things up so that the temptation to kill someone on her shrinking list will lure her off of the path that she is on, possibly to lose face (sorry for that) with her new mentor at the house of B&W.

Just thought I’d pop in to say that if you value not being spoiled, don’t go on any other discussion boards, etc. HBO “accidentally” released it early and… you will have the surprises ruined.

well, its over… Stannis did it. Seriously wonder if GRR gave every detail of future because we are well passed the books now.

The Onion Knight is going to be pissed.

Hey, all that talk about Stannis being a good king?

FUCK HIM

Man that was hard core. I did not think Stannis would do that. Loved the episode though. Loved it!

Fuck you Stannis Baratheon, die in a fire. Take a long time doing it. I hope Brienne lights the pyre too.

Interesting turn of events for Arya.

I really enjoyed the Meereen changes. Just when you thought they’d blown the CGI budget in last week’s episode…

I was wrong though on the 9th episode “shock value” being the death of a major character. The minor one was shocking enough though, and the Meereen stuff tacked on another awesome battle/CGI scene, so the reputation of Episode 9’s is still intact.

Team Stannis T-shirts are now on deep, deep discount.

Well, I’d say this episode suggests they did blow the special effects budget last week, because nothing in the arena scene looked as good as the Hardhome battle, or even close.

Obviously the scenes themselves have very different challenges to filming them realistically and making it look good; it may not be fair to compare at all. But last week looked like they nailed what they were doing, this week the effects had some glaring weak spots.

I haven’t watched yet, but if you’re talking about what I think you’re talking about, that is completely effed up.

I’ll take girl number 3 thank you very much.

Yup. It was. This show just continues to do things unseen on TV, including what just happened tonight. Yikes. I know some people are definitely not happy. The beginning of the episode kind of sells it though, just as much as the whole “I’ll be in the next boat” sequence from last week.

I was surprised at how easily staggered the dragon was when it was speared in the arena. Are it’s scales not hardened yet because it’s in dragon puberty? I mean how in could it ever withstand a barrage of arrows in a battle of armies if 2 or 3 spears was able to visibly wound it?

RIP Shireen :(

I couldn’t watch the the Stannis part, just fast-forwarded through it. Jesus…

Other than that, great episode - Drogon definitely needs to learn how to fight a bit better if he’s going to help win a throne though. More Unsullied getting taken down by people wearing what I can only assume are horribly vision-impairing masks but I’ve given up that fight.

I’m not looking forward to the year long wait after next week!

I’m watching it now. It’s monstrous.

Holy Jebus that was hardcore. I did get Attack of the Clones flashbacks during the arena scene. It was kind of weird looking but for me it worked since it gave everything a sort of heightened reality. My favorite moment was ‘shut your mouth’, haha. After Tyrion said that one guy was eloquent I thought it was awesome that it’s followed up by such a curt but eloquent line.

But Stannis, damn, I didn’t believe I’d see that on a tv show, even on pay tv, even on GoT. The actress nailed it too, the screams were convincing. Maybe they should sacrifice the mom, her faith is weak. The only thing that could have made it worse is if that witch had tossed the stag onto the pyre for extra kindling.

Stannis’s men, wow what do you tell yourself? It seemed like a good idea at the time?

The only disappointment was Ramsay’s action. The thing is it’s so simple a plan and easily done that it makes Roose look like an idiot for not thinking of it. Roose wouldn’t even have had to risk his son, since there’s no apparent reason Ramsay himself had to go. If they wanted to make Ramsay look like a surprisingly competent leader they picked a weak way to do it.

The Dragon CGI was great except for when the dragon was flying for some reason. It goes from great to neverending story back to great.

LOL

What a cracking episode. I was in emotional turmoil at the Shireen scene, and I almost didn’t want to watch the rest of the show I felt so queasy; but boy, the Meereen scene was enthralling.

The Wall and Dorne bits jogged along nicely enough - even if just in terms of being the calm before their relative storms.

Loved how it was Selyse who broke down, after she’d been set up for us to hate her so much that everyone wanted Stannis to sacrifice her.

Some people think Stannis’ men will be in doubt, I think that they’ll actually be impressed he’s determined enough to sacrifice his own daughter. Sick, but impressed. Especially if Rh’llor works some magic. Davos, however - that’s sure to be the breaking point for his loyalty.
