Tom’s hardware on RoN:
Rise of Nations is also unique in the fact that it was developed by famed RTS designer Brian Reynolds, who has been responsible for great RTS games such as Civilization II . The buzz surrounding this game has been incredible. Although it appeared to be nothing more than hype at first, this is certainly not the case. Reynolds led an experienced team of developers whose goal it was to deliver a top-quality strategy game that emphasized excellence in all aspects of its development. And deliver they did.

He’s not sticking to the FACTS!
Plus:
Being big fans of such Reynolds titles as Civilization II, Colonization, and Alpha Centauri, I looked forward…

I used to play Civ 2 really fast, so it was kind of like real-time.
Oh man, as I skimmed to the end, I realized I had to do a word count.
4,073 words.
Oh man.
What I don’t get is how they managed to do an entire article without running a Quake III benchmark
That was the Empire Earth of Rise of Nations reviews.
Now that’s funny! :D The kind of funny only a gamer dork could appreciate, but I laughed!

While that’s hilarious, Reynolds was, in fact, the co-designer of Civ II, though as the still-more-hilarious rumor goes, Reynolds served as a ghost writer for both Civ II and Alpha Centauri and put together both of those games all by himself, while Sid’s only involvement was his name on the box. Cu-ckoo!

To play Civ 2 in real time, you’d need to play very slowly, I guess.
