Nope, although in a very specific sense you’re not entirely on the wrong track.
If it’s not Nikita, it’s gotta be some obscure Jean Reno film.
The problem is, I haven’t seen many Jean Reno movies. I didn’t remember anything about Nikita, except that he was in it, and that someone is using a Desert Eagle at some point.
Don’t forget the other Leon!

I’m joking. … Or am I?
Subway?
Mainly guessing because I saw it along with Diva in French class, and Diva would at least be operatic.
Subway is a fun movie. Probably my favourite of Besson (although that’s not saying much). Reno plays a drummer in it, right?
I had never heard of Diva though.
I’d love to know the thinking behind that guess.
Oh, it wasn’t a good guess, but Robert Picardo played a cowboy-themed hitman, so I thought it was a long shot…
The Flickless schoolteacher makes me think of the Tracy Flick character from Election. The other clues rule out Election, I think, but maybe Gordon is going for another movie that featured Matthew Broderick as a teacher, or maybe Mark Harelik, who played Tracy’s teacher paramour/molester. But… I don’t have any other guesses.
Oh, except [Leon: ]The Professional hasn’t been guessed yet so I’ll guess that one.
Well its not Election, but I’m still guessing Election just to get it out of the way. What other movies has the teacher whose name escapes me done?
Edit: Djscman wrote this just one post above mine. My brain isn’t working right today.
Godzilla had both Broderick and Reno. But I don’t remember anything about it, apart from maybe a big creature and some eggs.
Well that would certainly explain why the clues mean nothing to me.
- King Lear
- Tourniquet
- Cowboy hat
- Operatic weeping
- Damages
- Leon in love
- A Flickless schoolteacher
- City bus
- West Wing alum dies horribly
How many clues before I should declare defeat?
I can only think of like three Matthew Broderick films, and only one where he’s a teacher.
But I might as well, guess, so, Speed?
