Oh! It is! I was so focused on the third clue, Nefertiti, that I didn’t even considered it. That’s a great second clue by the way!

However, I still don’t remember how Nefertiti fits in that movie. Is it the name of someone in the movie? A slave maybe? It would be weird though: I think she gained wide notoriety only after the discovery of her bust, and that was in the early 1910s.

That’s it!

  1. Eye holes
Big Daddy’s proto-Klan riders have a problem with the eye holes in their masks.

  2. Tooth
Dr. King Schultz rides around in a wagon with a big tooth on top.

  3. Nefertiti
There is a replica bust of Nefertiti in the Mandingo fighting club. (@Buckaroo: this is indeed anachronistic. As you note, the bust wouldn’t actually be discovered for more than 50 years after the time in which the film is set.)

  4. Dogs
Candy has dogs tear his runaway slave D’Artagnan to pieces.

  5. Third best
Schultz says he wants to pay $12,000 for Candy’s third best fighter.

  6. Cut hand
Leo cut his hand while acting in one scene, and kept right on acting through the scene. Reportedly, the crew gave him an ovation after that take.

  7. Exploding director
Quentin Tarantino plays an Aussie slaver who blows up.

  8. A woman who speaks German
Kerry Washington plays Brunhilde, Django’s wife, who has the rare talent (for an American slave) of speaking German.

Over to you, @Djscman.

Can I just say, while it still stumped me, this is an example of how this game should be played, IMO.

@Gordon_Cameron took a mainstream film which most people have likely seen and obfuscated it through his clever clues. That’s way more fun then trying to figure out the obscure clues to an even more obscure art-house or film-school film.

Those were good clues, the kind that make me think, in retrospect, that I was a complete dummy for not figuring them out earlier.

Here’s the next one.

  • A double-cross by fiat
  • passing disapproval
  • (This is a P&R shoutout) Buckle up – ouch, my balls!
  • Is the conflict man versus man or man versus nature?
  • he’ll get to that, straightaway.

Well, it’s not one that I’ve seen, though I’ll grant I’m probably in the minority here on that front.

Not seen it, but given the potential car puns, Ford vs Ferrari/Le Mans 66?

I was going to say, aren’t those two different movies, but curse my American blinders! Ford vs. Ferrari was also released as Le Mans '66 in some countries. And you are correct!

The car racing puns are self explanatory. The based-on-a-true person Henry “The Deuce (not Il Duce)” Ford II sat on his testicles getting into his superfast prototype, which may or may not have been a true story. Fiat was the car company that bought Ferrari The Company just as Ferrari The Guy was making overtures to Ford The Guy to have Ford The Company buy Ferrari The Company. And so on.

The checkered flag is yours, @Ginger_Yellow !

OK, so this is another round with a gimmick, though I promise the movie is neither art house nor film school.

All of the clues are things the movie predicted or at least depicted as commonplace ahead of their time.

  1. Self driving cars
  2. Pet cloning
  3. Smart fridges
  4. Biometric payments
  5. Laser pistols

The 5th Element? (I mean, the movie, not the unrelated game)

Woody Allen’s Bananas

You must mean Sleeper?

Doh! My brain thought Sleepers and I wrote Bananas somehow, LOL. Yes - Sleepers.

Back to the Future, Part II?

The bit about being ahead of their time implies it takes place in the then near future, our present or recent past. So no Star Trek or Dune, or 5th Element.

FWIW, all I meant by that was that some of the clues were around IRL in some form (eg prototypes, or already being widely predicted, so you couldn’t really credit the film for the idea) when the film was made.

No correct guesses so far.

Minority Report?

Ooh - it could be one of a number of Schwarzenegger films. The Sixth Day?

Aw, I was hoping to run out the gimmick for longer.

  1. Holographic digital companion
  2. Remote piloted aircraft
  3. Creepy as fuck dolls
  4. Football mask HUDs
  5. Nacho flavour bananas

Which one was it?

The Sixth Day

Woo! OK - lets get down to business. Your Next Five Elements!

-Swallowed by a Storm
-Religious Pluralist?
-Unfortunate Bookshelves
-Locked Book
-Interrupted Hanging
