I’m a little curious how. Clue 8?
That was indeed the one.
By the way: I’m only going to post the solution here if no one else gets it and you don’t want to do another. If you’d rather do one more, by all means: I prefer to get it because I actually watched the movie…
Well, I certainly don’t want to do another right now, it took me this long to find a film I could do.
Oke, in that case, let me know when you have exhausted the hints (10 usually, right?) and I’ll bail you out!

This is a super long shot, but Wm. Shakespeare/Baz Luhrman’s Romeo + Juliet?
I doubt that, because it never departs from the text of the play, and the words ‘yuppy cunts’ aren’t in there!
Send me another guess, post post haste!
It is not, but not entirely dissimilar, I think. Can’t imagine this last clue is going to make a difference, but here we go.
- Party when the parents are away
- The cheque’s in the post
- Hark, a hawk!
- So much smoking indoors
- Kids and football
- Fish farms
- A Connecticut (almost) Yankee in King Arthur’s Court
- Yuppy cunts
- They shoot horses, don’t they?
- Stately home
Nope, but that would be a reasonable alternative title. It is The Nest.
Spoilers obviously. Probably don’t read this if you’re going to watch the movie.
- Party when the parents are away - Daughter Sam has a party at the house when the parents are supposed to be in London for the night, and things get out of hand
- The cheque’s in the post - Rory is constantly insisting to Allison that he’ll be come into money in a week or two
- Hark, a hawk! - Shortly after they relocate to the UK, Sam says her teacher admonished her for pronouncing “hawk” as “hark” (imagine the non-rhotic British pronunciation)
- So much smoking indoors - one of the early indications that this is a period piece is when people start lighting up in restaurants and such
- Kids and football - The only things in life that matter, according to Rory’s taxi driver
- Fish farms - Norwegian fish farms, specifically. A rather vague deal which Rory’s colleague has been working on and he tries to get in on the action
- A Connecticut (almost) Yankee in King Arthur’s Court - The family move from upstate New York to the UK to work for a guy called Arthur
- Yuppy cunts - Scrawled on the wall during the aforementioned party
- They shoot horses, don’t they? - Allison’s horse, Richmond is put down
- Stately home - A ridiculously extravagant and oversized house that Rory rents when the family move to the UK
