Like others have pointed, it’s the over the top pseudo-intellectual drivel that baffles me. And most of all the fact that he litters the article with his horndog fantasies over something so pathetic.
Every paragraph is “I immediately fantasized over the videogame character/attempted to do something raunchy and here’s a pseudo-intellectual explanation as to why I was entitled to it.”

Since this forum is of type “DCB-2” (name I just invented), posting new threads is frown upon. I have non see people get warned for creating new threads, but I suppose is because are killed on the night, and never seen again, or something.
I would love to make a new thread on this forum about this:
Kotaku & Co losing several million of passwords to the general cracker public.
I don’t know if is appropiate for this subforum, but I think make sense to report this to teh public so people change his passwords.
A lot of people use the same passwords everywhere, so if you have the same password in Kotaku and, say, Pay&Pal, you are fucked. …best idea would be to change your PayPal pass.
I was going to call the thread cops from their basement posts, but your link is awesome.

Jim Sterling strikes again!
Kinect, by all accounts, is kicking PlayStation Move’s puckered arsehole up and down the street, but Sony isn’t phased, at least not publicly. In fact, the PS3 platform holder believes Microsoft will eventually bump its head on the glass ceiling and won’t be able to take Kinect very far.
It’s “fazed”. Christ, what an asshole.

Kinect can’t be successful because it’s a woman?
I…but…I hate this motherfucker.

A less controversial way to say the same things is “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
A photo of a person can weight 240 KB, while the description of the same person can weight 4 KB.
A book may contain less information than a movie, but I like the book best, because I fill the holes with my own imagination. Not everybody has imagination, so movies are a more popular format.
You can fit a book in 80KB, while the movie may need 9 GB.
What Thomson’s say is literally true, but is against what is normally accepted.
Please never try to explain anything to me again. Our planet has evolved faster than yours so unless it involves menhir leveling or banana fermentation, consider me already informed.
Thomsom is a pretentious blowhard and his garrulous wankery is devoid of usable insight.
Why does IGN hand their big reviews to this guy? His writing style is completely opposed to their readership: http://corp.ign.com/

Is this Michael Thompson guy trying to out do Tim Rogers?
“Michael Thompson” might even be a pseudonym.
I’m going to have to respectfully disagree here. I appreciate it when Tieman explains things to you, very much. I’d like to have it happen every other post really.

You’d better explain yourself. And do it like Teiman would.

If you had to pick one, is it better to have game journalism that:
A) is misspelled, has poor grammar, reprints press releases and even then gets it wrong, and is the journalistic equivalent of a (non-QT3) fanboy forum post.
B) is overwritten, overlong, overcomplicated, pseudo-intellectual, obfuscated, and waxes philosophical in the post-bonghit-college-dormitory fashion.
Choose your poison.

^ you don’t run a gaming outlet, do you?
