By chance did it happen while you were playing caucasian cattle herders and native americans?
I think they called it “Hide the squanto”
I found Sharkey’s performance quite entertaining and the rest of the podcast after he left was fairly boring. I vote for more Sharkey and more drinking and more Wii shooters! Also, less NPDs.
Speaking of podcast annoyances, I don’t mind the Rebel FM group recording while they’re eating dinner, but in the future it would be great if they didn’t stuff their faces with loud food like they did in the most recent episode. 30 minutes of chips and salsa is very annoying, stick to the pancakes please.
I know this is belated, but from what I’ve heard in gaming podcasts, I really don’t think any of them have any sort of nefarious plans like that. It’s my impression that most gaming podcasts aren’t big on “plans” of any sort, much less ones that involve them being corrupt.
I would rather they just skip the podcast for the week than do this kind of thing at all.
I agree. To be honest I wouldn’t really miss it that much if it disappeared. It’s okay and all, but I don’t get much there that I don’t get in the other ones I subscribe to.
I actually really like Rebel FM. I enjoy Arthur and Anthony’s back-and-forth especially. I think they could do with fewer scatological digressions, though.
I honestly didn’t mind the episode they did at IHOP, the crunchy chips in this one just drove me nuts though.
QFT. It’s just obvious forum-baiting; nobody has ever said anything the least bit insightful during an NPD segment.
This week’s Listen Up is pretty good. It features, of course, Robert Ashley. He makes all podcasts better.
I used to like NPD weeks because it was fun listening to one guy explain why Sony was going to be fine, while another assured the group that a price drop on the PS3 would be coming soon. Now its the same old Wii is in first place, I’m annoyed that Wii Play counts as a game, and Sony needs a price drop.

Tangentally podcast related (didn’t know where else to put it), the Giant Bomb guys have an iPhone app now for 2 bucks which gives you access to their videos, reviews and database. You definitely need to check out their advertisement for it:
iTunes App link
That commercial is hilarious!
I just listened to ListenUp with scott sharkey. It seemed pretty par for the course for him, if not a little extra belligerent.
It was very clear that he was drunk, as you can hear the slurring in his speech very audibly.
I actually posted about this yesterday over here. I’ve got a non-review there at the bottom. Even if it weren’t broken, I’d still be disappointed with the presentation.

I bought it and am happy with it. $2 is a small price to pay for the entertainment those guys have given me. Aside from that the video quality on 3G is much better then the crappy youtube 3G quality. It’s nice that I have a way to watch the Quick Look videos at work even if there are some search issues at the moment.

Yeah, here is an update on the troubles:
It looks like an older version of the app somehow made it onto Apple’s webservers. Unfortunately the app will crash when trying to load more then 25 videos at a time (you can still view videos from the game pages). Also, news stories will show a broken image where the embedded videos (like the one in this story) should have appeared. Simply click that image to launch the video. An free update will go out as soon as possible so there’s no reason to wait if you want Giant Bomb on your iPhone.

New TMA >:] Still no Bruce :/
Try watching the whole Persona 4 endurance run, then tell me if you’re still happy with it. Having no specific endurance run/TANG/quick look/reviews/features subsections under the videos section is problematic to me. Even if the app wasn’t busted, you’d still have to search for ‘endurance run’ and then go through five screens to get to the first episode.
