Hey, Jon, how much shouting at your screen when Chie learned her latest attack in the Endurance Run?
Reading the comments on these things is kind of hilarious, but also kind of annoying. How the hell is anyone supposed to know the crit values on these identically described physical attacks? Maybe the guys are doing something wrong, but whenever one of their characters uses a physical attack, it seems to do pretty much the same damage as just using a standard attack, but at the cost of a bunch of help. It’s the kind of stuff that makes me glad I’m watching someone play rather than playing myself.
On the other hand, learning that the voice of Kanji is also the voice of John Redfactionguerrilla (that’s the guy’s name, right?) was pretty shocking. Now I’ll be seeing Kanji when playing RF:G.

I was able to go through the search box. Type ‘Persona 4’. Enter the video section of the game and scroll to the bottom. The only problem here is that the full title doesn’t show so it will be hard to track which video is next when you’re a high enough number of vids in.
I don’t know the stats or anything of the attacks. I am just mad that they never use her physical attacks. She runs out of SP constantly, because she doesn’t have as much as everyone else. I was more pissed that they skipped on Mudoon on Black Frost.
But meh, small gripes.
First episode of Vinny and Ryan’s Matrix Online ‘Not Like This!’ anti-endurance run is up today. Watched it on my iPhone app while waiting for a friend at the dentist’s office. This was a mistake. The banter during the character creation process nearly had me pissing myself.

How good is the GiantBomb video quality over 3G?
Don’t actually know yet. Dentist had free wifi!
Awesome idea, especially if they’re connected the moment they disconnect the world. Then they can see users wailing about it, like they did in the scenario reported on in A Life Well Wasted. It’s just too bad this first episode was so boring because apparently the start of the game sucks.
Another cool element: some Giant Bomb users will presumably log into the same server and try to fuck with the endurance run.
Yeah, once you get past the hilarity of character creation, you then get thirty solid minutes of them being confused by the game’s terrible tutorial, useless interface and good lord, is that really how that game looks?

New RPS. They face the same problem I do with my blog:
“Why have we not blogged that?”
“Jim was going to do it.”

It’s much better then Youtube over 3G and possibly the same quality as wifi (could be just an mov file). It’s muddy when there’s action all over the screen but otherwise it is surprisingly good.

bahimiron my boss was talking to someone next to me while I was sneakily trying to watch the endurance run and I had to cover my face to hide the laughter during character creation.
Never underestimate our incredible laziness. It’s amazing that the fall of games journalism thread isn’t just devoted to us, what with my occasional grammatical error.

I thought the newest Out of the Game episode this week was great. I was almost dying when they inadvertantly linked crabcore to Chuck Berry through YouTube.
Also the audio quality is good in the last two podcasts they got someone to help them
Jeff,
Been really enjoying the EA official podcast. I appreciate how candid the banter is.
I noticed that. I stopped and check if I wasn’t on wifi.
The last hour or so of last week’s ListenUp devolves into them complaining about PSN yet again. Yeah guys, we get it. It’s annoying to have to upgrade the firmware all the time. Yeah, it’s great that PSN is free. Indeed, PSN should incorporate cross game messaging/chat. Fine. But why is hell does that stuff need to be rehashed at least once a month? BO-RING!

Especially when they are wrong, like when John says that if there is a firmware update you are FORCED to update before you can do anything.
The PS3 has two kinds of firmware updates. The non-required one which will allow the user to do everything and not even tell you that there’s an update unless you explicitly go check, and the required one which will sign you out of PSN until you update. Neither prevents you from playing a game (unless you want to play online then the second type of update is required).
Indeed. They also rehashed the age-old discussion of pricing for XBLA games. Ugh. They were wrong there too, saying Bionic Commando Rearmed was $15, when it was actually $10.

It amazes me that there can be 4 gaming experts in the room at yet still get so much info wrong. :p
Well, I don’t begin to understand what the hell Garnett thinks Live Arcade is supposed to be. Shadow Complex isn’t an arcade game because of…something but Geometry Wars is because of…something else. So he wants the service to be, what, nothing but Asteroids and Turtles in Time? But he didn’t like the pricing on the TMNT game (and, to his credit, he’s right on that, unless they’re going to add a LOT of new stuff to it) and that didn’t fit with his view of arcade. I like to think that that was just the liquor talking, because I can’t even conceive of a world view in which he was making an argument with comprehensible fundaments. It sounded like he was trying to conflate the price inflation that we’ve seen (no doubt about that) over the years that the Arcade has been up, and particularly since last year’s Summer of Arcade, with some sort of design argument about how the games should be communal in nature and bite sized - he just completely lost me.
Can anybody explain his position to me like I’m six? And not a precocious six, either. Because I honestly don’t understand what he’s stabbing at.
