Same thing happened to me this week with 4g1u. I checked manually via the iTunes store and was able to download it there.

Thanks, I also had assumed they skipped a week. Same thing happened to my iTunes.

Let me just say right now that I feel so good about myself for catching this stuff through a pod receiver that ISN’T iTunes. As it should be.

Now, to figure out how to make this a reason why you should never, ever, ever have your only podcast feed be in iTunes.

GWJ, on the other hand, can’t figure out which Zelda was the Oak-arina of Time. That’s the cel shaded one, right? No, no! Oak-arina of Time is the one on the Gameboy! No, wait, Oak-arina of Time was the one on the Gamecube, right?

If only there was some sort of worldwide network with information on it and search engines where you could look stuff up. Shame, really…

I’d love to ditch iTunes as my podcast catcher, but I have an iPod Touch. Isn’t iTunes the only program that will catch and sink podcasts to my iPod?

Through the synchronize tool? Probably. Apple is jerkish about that. If it can receive just straight files, however, you can probably plug in virtually anything. I’m personally partial to rcFeedMe because I know the guy, and have worked with him, and sometimes go to his house, and also he is a member here, and I like the way it handles history tracking and all that fun stuff.

Probably won’t work with iTunes in some critical way, however. I’ve never met an Apple product that didn’t hate playing with others.

Admittedly, a google search for “oak-arina of time” only gets you six hits.

iTunes rarely has problems like this unless there’s an error in the RSS feed.

Digging the Eurogamer.net podcast myself. Like the personalities.

Ellie Gibson, in particular, I find hilarious.

There are other programs which will do it, but I’ve yet to find anything to make it as free and easy as iTunes allows, minus its unfortunate quirks and memory pillaging.

I have subscribed to the podcast but only managed to listen one to the end I find the really bad sound quality and constant spikes in sound levels to be really annoying and stop listening 10 or 15 min in. I like Erugamer.net so hope they maneg to fix the sound issues. Also for me British accent is harder to understand than American one so sound quality is very important.

I can appreciate that. When things get a bit slurry and overlapping, it becomes impossible.

Think they’ve improved the levels somewhat, if you want to give it another shot. I run through podcasts like something that runs through quite a lot of something else, so I’m always at a loss for good ones.

Incomprehensible but charming also tends to win me over quite comprehensibly annoying.

Last time I tried it, anything in the iTunes podcast directory will be synced, no matter how it got there. An odd bit of open-ness by Apple.

Ah! That’s a good tip. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. Looks like the 1up guys forgot to set the date field on the podcast. When I had downloaded the episode from the app store, it showed up at the bottom of the 4 Guys 1UP list, without a “Release Date” entry.

Oh nice. Ellie Gibson is on their podcast? I’ll have to check that out. She does hilarious interviews on Eurogamer.

It may be better now that they are on #7, but the #1 was absolutely dreadful. No structure at all, just a bunch of people rambling about whatever games they are or are not playing. That seems to be the description of most game podcasts I have heard.

There will be another The Idle Thumbs Podcast soon. Not just now, because obviously something got posted before it was supposed to be, but this week. They have a description and everything. Huzzah. I like this development.

I listened to #7 and was a bit alarmed when one guy suggested that there be two versions of Assassin’s Creed 2 PC: One with the online DRM (and all its benefits) and one without. Don’t these people understand the concept of piracy and weakest link?

Speaking of the Eurogamer podcast, iTunes was also not collecting that properly. It stopped after episode 3 and picked up episode 7 this morning. Weird.
