Amusingly enough, Ellie was not in #7, and her absence was quite noticeable. Eurogamer would be advised to not let this occur too often.
The other guys are very nice, but Ellie puts the spice on the biscuit.

Giantbomb’s Ryan’s inferno is quite fun to watch.
I never want to play that game now.
I felt the exact same way.
Their quicklook of Endless Ocean: Blue World almost hit MST3k levels of quality for me. Numerous times it genuinely made me laugh. One line specifically still makes me snicker.

I’ll have to watch that. I got about halfway through before I had to leave.
The link, btw: http://www.giantbomb.com/ryans-inferno/17-2074/
Really a great study on gaming frustration.
Also, it’s sad that a cynically designed game like Dante’s Inferno is a top 10 seller. Meanwhile, Darksiders, which is all about loving games and designed by people who clearly love games, is a total flop.
I guess the obnoxious Inferno marketing worked.

“My girlfriend never lets me pass through the back of the cave.”
Quicklook spoilers!
For me the line was
“That fish is wearing a fish tank.” and then Ryan’s disapproving of Jeff for saying it.

The silence after that is even funnier.

Pet peeve: podcasters are lazy as shit about taggin.
Your podcast’s genre tag should always be “Podcast.” Your podcast’s album title should be “Name of podcast,” not “Name of episode” or “Name of podcast plus month.” Your podcast’s artist tag should be consistent, it should not be “Name of every person who was on this particular episode” (unless you go with a consistent name in “Album artist,” those should go in “Performer”). This is all Apple’s fault, I’m sure of it.

I’m constantly amazed by how often I disagree with the GiantBomb guys about games. The latest culprit was when they went on about how Crackdown wasn’t that great a game. I would have been fine with that, but then they cited Prototype and Infamous as two games that are better as games than Crackdown, which really irritates me. Especially now that I’ve actually played Prototype.
Yeah I often don’t agree with them but I still find them the most fun/interesting to listen to.

Yeah, that killed me. I constantly hover on the verge of cutting them. Were it not a pretty tight-format show with pretty nice preview coverage, in a dearth of just such, they’d be long-ignored.
But that one was amazing.
I’d never cut them, they’ve got the right mix of ‘friends talking’ and ‘news you can use’, but I am occasionally surprised by them. Vinnie’s hatred of Flower, for instance. Or back when Ryan dismissed the very notion that Batman could be any good prior to its release. Hell, they were crowing about how much they just knew Avatar would bomb and they couldn’t wait for it. Not a lot from them on Avatar since.

Sometimes when they get on tearing something, too, they will keep at it for far too long, often repeating the same jokes. I’ll skip ahead a few minutes, and they’re still at it.
My appreciation would boost tenfold if they’d cut back a little on the snarky bluster and shorten the running time just a bit.
You sure you’re not talking about Idle Thumbs zen?
Idle Thumbs is Giant Bomb’s PC-oriented twin brother.
I find it strange that the GiantBomb guys would say Prototype was better than anything. If memory serves correctly, none of those guys liked that game at all. I know I hated it.
They sometimes seem to have trouble with the level of fun they are having with a game and what they see its perceived quality to be. They clearly all had fun with Crackdown but to them it has a bunch of fundamental game flaws which they can’t reconcile with the experience they had while playing it. This has happened with them on a few games.

Crackdown was a great game but it you have to admit it certainly had it’s share of problems. I think Jeff referred to it as a “flawed gem,” Ryan simply said “flawed.” So he has a different opinion than you.
I don’t remember them specifically calling either Prototype of Infamous better games. In fact, if I remember correctly, they discussed Prototype a few months after it was released and were shocked how quickly and poorly it had aged.
Ryan has explained his reasons for being a bit skeptical of Batman. I don’t think he was dismissing the game before it came out so much as he was just trying to curb the hype around a game by a developer that no one knew anything about. They also went on to give Batman a game of the year award, and Ryan said he pleasantly surprised he was.
I don’t think they ever said they knew it would bomb, just that it would be dumb. They talked about Avatar just recently. Pretty sure they all thought it was dumb. Hey, so did Tom Chick!
