I was thinking more along the lines of when I go to their webpage and click ‘podcasts’ I should be able to click another button that says ‘Mobcast’ which only lists Mobcast podcasts so I can read their descriptions rather than having to scroll through pages of Rebel FMs, Geekboxes, Pixel Revolt and CO-OP. I only check in with Bitmob once every couple of months because I find it so hit or miss. I’m not looking for a hacker solution. I just wish they had tags on their blog.
No.
“I didn’t like what Mr. X had to say about that game” is a discussion.
“Holy fucking shit Mr. X is such a douchebag because he didn’t like that game I love!!! I hate that podcast and I’m never listening to it again until he’s gone ugh!#%!#%!” is taking it too seriously and makes you sound like a whiner.
I’m seeing more of column B going on in this thread than column A.
That’s too bad.
Hope the rest of your week goes better, Eric.
See the mobcast feed on the browser, not the feed for the podcast section, just click on the latest episode of the mobcast select the feed, you can see only the episodes of mobcast and there description there.
Who is doing that? Links or quotes, please.
Oh, hey, smart! Thanks!
Now I feel like a pakled.
“You are smart. We are strong!”
Obviously I’m exaggerating a little to make a point. Not much, though. But I don’t have the time or inclination to go digging through this thread for examples. Search for “Cory Banks” or “Andrew Fitch” and I’m sure you’ll find plenty, though.
Okay. Working from the same basic palate that you were (my memory), criticism of him amounts to “he’s a contrarian and he drags down the podcast with his constant carping and complaining.” That’s not an objection to an opinion - that’s an objection to the way he conducts himself.
All of the criticisms that I remember have to do with him being an insufferable asshat. Which he is. I’m pretty sure it’s on purpose, but he seems to be trying to act annoying and dismissive most of the time. Again, that’s a conduct problem and not an opinion problem.
I’m still not sure where you’re coming from here. Maybe you should have half a white Valium and a nice relaxing massage or something.
Ah. The old ‘Make A Bunch Of Bold, Nonsense Statements Then Refuse To Back Them Up’ ploy. Well played, sir. Clearly this is not your first time at the Saying A Bunch Of Stupid Bullshit rodeo!
Oddly enough a search for Cory Banks only turns up a post made by you!
When it comes to Andrew Fitch, pretty much this. And at no point have I ever said I was going to stop listening to Geekbox. I enjoy Ryan Scott and Karen Chu far more than I unenjoy Andrew Fitch.
I’m not sure what you’re hoping to achieve with this splash damage, but at this point you should probably either commit or withdraw.
I’d recommend at least taking a moment to clarify to yourself what it is you’re doing.
Goddamn, how long did that take you?! You must be some kind of internet superman, or something.
Exaggeration isn’t the same as making stuff up out of whole cloth. Literally no one is doing what you’re complaining about, except of course for the straw man you setup to argue with every time you bring up this dumb, one-sided debate. As Mr. Seiler pointed out, those who criticize a particular member of a podcast are criticizing his/her conduct. No one is saying, “I can’t stand so-and-so simply because I don’t agree with him.” I’m certainly not saying that.
I was going to do it, but I didn’t have the time or inclination.

I’ll confess first that I rarely ever listened to gaming podcasts. I got hooked onto Gamers With Jobs for a while and quite liked that, but in general the formulaic format, combined with a length of over an hour long, really put me off.
I got a new computer though, and I just reinstalled iTunes, and I figured I might as well subscribe to some podcasts that can help ease my excessively long commute.
I downloaded Three Moves Ahead, the Qt3 podcast, and Idle Thumbs, and I’m having an absolute blast with a format I never thought I’d find palatable. It turns out I actually really love listening to 3 or 4 guys who really love videogames just hang out and talk for an hour or more about their hobby, while occasionally meandering into other stuff that I also like listening to because these guys are hilarious and I would just love to hang out with them in a pub and listen to them chat about archeology, RTS games or whatever floats their fancy. The Idle Thumbs guys for instance are consistently hilarious and insightful - it’s just another pleasant coincidence that they like to talk about videogames primarily (and especially PC ones!).
I don’t really have a point with all this, I just hope the better podcasts out there, like the 3 I listed above, keep doing what they’re doing.
EDIT: Oh, and if I’m really enjoying Idle Thumbs and Three Moves Ahead, do you guys recommend going back and listening to older episodes? I’m definitely going to listen to the older Qt3 podcasts just for the chance to know more about our fellow denizens, but I’m wondering if either podcast was substantially different in format or content before.
Thee Moves Ahead is mostly evergreen, since their blasts are about topics, rather than news. Idle Thumbs is a little bit more time-sensitive, so if you absolutely hate hearing about the past that you just lived through you might find it annoying, but if you’re just listening to hear the guys, then that also is a good idea.
I’m listening to the older Idle Thumbs podcasts. It’s weird to hear a joke you’ve heard a million times before on the podcast and realize that it’s actually the first time the joke is being made and that from then on it will be repeated.
If you have the time to do it, you can’t go wrong listening to the older Idle Thumbs podcasts. It will increase your enjoyment of the new episodes as you’ll finally understand most of the inside jokes they reference. Gold Jeffgold!
That’s because everyone has been misspelling it “Corey” for the whole thread.
Well, see, then? We’re not even talking about the same guy.
Let it go, chief - it’s a Friday.

David Ellis leaves 1up to join the Halo Waypoint group. Will continue 4G1U until GDC
http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9022455
I wonder who is going to take over the podcast, I mean it’s there most subscribed feed so it makes sense to continue. When Garnet left David was a natural successor have been on the podcast for many months, but 4G1U never had a stable cast. I liked the guest approach even though there were not able to do it every week and it depend on how interesting was the guest, so I hope they maintain that. I just don’t see from the current staff who is going to do it.
