The latest 4g1u was over 2 and a half hours long, yet you managed not to be on it. Fail. The whole thing needed to be reined in, though. Like, they talked about Halo Reach for way too long.

I’m listening to the latest Weekend Confirmed right now. The Monster Hunter Tri discussion was irritating. Jeff Cannata was trying to voice some criticism of the game and the other three guys kept essentially saying, “You just don’t get it.” That’s the weakest argument in support of a game there is. I hated how Jeff felt he had to buffer his criticism with praise too. He even said something to the effect of “I’m gonna hear about this from the commenters,” with regard to his Monster Hunter criticism. If I was him I wouldn’t worry about pissing off the Monster Hunter hardcore with valid complaints about archaic controls and systems. His feelings are no less valid than anyone else’s. The other three guys sounded like people suffering from battered spouse syndrome or something. “Monster Hunter hits me because it loves me, Jeff! You just don’t understand!”
I seem to have fallen into a tradition of re-listening to the entire CGW/GFW Radio Run atleast once a year. Still my favourite games podcast.
You know how people say it was a miracle Lou Reed and John Cale ended up in the same band? Or John Lennon and Paul McCartney? Shawn Elliott and Jeff Green are the video game podcast equivalent of those miraculous pairings… :)

Anyway I’ve been re-listening to the entire run of 1UP Yours recently… it’s really interesting seeing the arc that show goes through. I can see why it took off like it did in the early days. Everyone on the show was so passionate about being good and entertaining. Garnett is even humble sometimes. Most importantly Andrew and John are there acting as anchors, keeping the podcast in a relatively wholesome community-driven place.
Ofcourse all that devolves into a massive perverted ego stroke after about a year and a half when Garnett decides it’s his “god damned show” and the atmophere shifts from one of community involvement to argument for the sake of trying to be entertaining. Garnett obviously decides that he’s an important voice in the games industry and I think the podcast shifts to reflect that.
Anyway it was great while it lasted.
I’d just add that Darren Gladstone is the Pete Best of GFW Radio.
And Robert Ashley is Yoko.
Does that make Anthony Gallegos Linda McCartney?
Are we not getting a new Idle Thumbs this week either?

Giantbomb almost killed me on the way to work this morning from laughter. They were talking about EA’s awful “sequel” to Goldeneye, Rogue Agent. “YOU GUYS LOVE GOLDENEYE?! fuck… NO? SHIT! We worked so hard … we got mines… and a briefcase that turns into a gun… Now you can be the GUY with the GOLDEN EYE! Everyones favorite James Bond character! Just like in the movie Goldeneye right? I never saw the movie but I think he’s in it. I remember the lady with the killer legs and the guy with the golden eye.”
Also pepper in the words weird and interesting.
Giant Bombcast peaked and valleyed in the first five minutes.

Also, having gotten a few down, have finally managed to discern that what I enjoy about the show is Vinny, and what puts me off most is Ryan.

Haven’t listened to the new one so my confusion is probably because I’m out of my element, but I thought Ryan was the guy on the GiantBomb staff who loved Just Cause 2, even more than Brad.
