Sometime last year, some fellow wrote in, “Scooter sounds like hamburgers.” At the time, it baffled me, as it seemed to be missing some critical words. I just kinda roll with that assessment. Also, I think Tina helped make some of the user ranks, which explains the hamburger reference.
I think it’d be kinda funny for me to talk about PC games, since my gaming PC died (seems like the power supply gave out, though I haven’t confirmed 100%) back in mid-April. I’d be speaking in hypotheticals about stuff I would be playing on it.
It’s always the power supply

Gotta say that I really love Weekend Confirmed. Great mix of personalities that can be very funny at times. Garnett proves that wherever he goes the magic follows.
This time it’s Tycho doing the DMing, right? I thought those WotC DMs were horrible. They ran the thing like a minis game with powers, barely a role-playing game.

I’m liking it a lot more now that Garnett has toned down the “this is going be AWESOME” stuff he was doing, which sort of indicated he was trying too hard to get back in the saddle IMO. The first few shows I only managed a few minutes of but I’ve been persisting with it.
If by horrible you mean hilarious because of the commentary.
I look forward to this one. Kris Straub’s such a funny guy, I wish I liked his comics.
I looked around on google and the penny-arcade site, but I’m not seeing a link. Where can I get this?

Sorry, woulda posted the link but I’m not allowed yet.
No new Gamespy podcast this week, no new Idle Thumbs in a month. Apparently being awesome takes time.
Has anyone noticed that the 4Guys1Up podcast (or whatever they want to call the podcast that week) has a very different attitude than Weekend Confirmed? Specifically, it seems to me like WC is very cheerleader-y - they seem to like most of the new games coming out, I’d imagine they’d paste “buy” recommendations on most of the games they talk about. 4G1U seems to be taking a more measured, honest tone where every game isn’t great and amazing.
For example, WC seemed to love Alan Wake, praising the story telling, visuals, and mechanics. 4G1U had a much more split perception - 2 of the commentators really liked it (and were called “defenders”), 2 people really weren’t into it so much. I enjoyed listening to the back and forth and debate of how the game worked quite a bit more. They seem less interested in selling me the game…or maybe they’re a less enthusiastic bunch.
If you’re an MSUSteve fan (or are actually MSUSteve) you’ll enjoy the latest “Weekend Confirmed” as Garnett says his name about 30 times.
Pffft…totally unfair. I’m the guy who ruined the bird noise for everybody and the Idle Thumbs dudes didn’t even pronounce my name right, and Garnett goes out and aggressively flogs Steve? I’m going to have to file a complaint with the Podcast Internet Somebody Mentioned My Name Level Famous Association.

Agreed. I always thought 1up yours (dear god, what a horrible horrible name in retrospect) magic was team effort. Weekend confirmed proves that Garnett puts all his heart into his podcast and makes it shine.
Loving the rest of the guys too. Is it Brian that keeps talking about Starcraft 2? He needs to talk more about it. plz.
Can’t wait to hear Shane come Friday!
While I don’t necessarily agree with a lot of Garnett’s opinions, it is pretty clear that he really does put exceptional effort into the coordination of the show. He prepares ahead of time, knows exactly how long each segment can take, and does what needs to be done to keep things snappy and moving along. I’m impressed that the show almost always ends up right near the 2 hour mark no matter what topics are being discussed.
Yeah, Weekend Confirmed isn’t too bad. Garnett still sounds like Michael Scott a lot of the time (especially when it goes like this: 1st guy riffs on something funny, 2nd guy continues riff, Garnett says something painfully unfunny in a weird voice), but the one I’m listening to now has a good flow.
I started listening this morning, but haven’t heard Garnett decimate me yet. What about my comments did he take issue with? I feel like my comments over at Shack have been pretty even tempered and fair.
He doesn’t decimate you at all – he previews your four minute warning question several times, then they finally get around to answering it (kind of). He has nothing but love for you.
John Davison said my name on 1up yours once. And they agreed with me, as I was trouncing some weird 1up board member who swore that because some chinese manufacturing firm was making HD-DVD drives, they were going to be 99$ for xmas.
I was also thoroughly trashed on Rebel FM once. Though, I deserved that one, because I didn’t present my argument that well.
Oh, ok. Cool. Mr. Seiler said he flogged me, which sounds negative. If it’s my question about mission types that everyone hates, but are still in games, I had actually submitted that one other time via Twitter, but it didn’t get answered. This time I posted it directly into the Shack comment thread for the show. Usually I don’t have any good questions for those sort of segments, but that particular question has been bugging me lately.
