Not sure exactly why, but Garnett is driving me nuts in this week’s Weekend Confirmed. When he talked about how RDR had moved beyond open world into the realm of an existential experience and how the treasure maps may have been one of the great design innovations of the last five years if not all time, I almost had to turn the podcast off.
Listen to Jumping the Shark 18 to have that put back in perspective for you.
Will Abner is quickly becoming one of my favorite podcast characters and that show is becoming one of my favorite podcasts in general. He’s our Gordon Mah-Ung.

When Garnett really enthuses about something, it’s pretty hard to listen to. A feature of a game can’t be simply “good”, it must be “the best thing ever”.
Although all the guys on Weekend Confirmed seem to succumb to the hype of AAA games and praise them to high heaven, Jeff seems slightly more into the less polished games and giving them time to shine. Consider Garnett being down on Nier and Alpha Protocol.
Felt like Jeff’s voice was definitely missing this week.
Steve, you shouldn’t be listening to any podcasts until you’ve listened to mine. It’s Jensen Ackles approved. I think. Maybe. Probably not. (Jensen Ackles is lame. :( )
Considering I DLed last week’s WC after all the love it’s been getting here and I found Garnett to be downright intolerable, this isn’t a great sign that I should try again.
One of the recent massively’s podcasts features a lengthy interview with Richard Garriott which is quite interesting (even though the moderators sound kinda dumb)

I always listen to Qt3 podcasts when I make dinner, but last week was nuts and I never made dinner. This week I’ve been listening. You should’ve told mmalloy that she had her own damn podcast and to shut the hell up during your time in the spotlight. I’m not done with it yet, but I loved the stripper story.
I thought it was pretty funny that Garnett and Billy read that dumb mock conversation I wrote on Weekend Confirmed. I don’t know why Billy was so reticent to do so, but whatever. I got some details wrong, but the point was made. 3DTV is even more expensive and convoluted that my mock conversation made it out to be.
Another week, another no new Idle Thumbs. Hopefully we’ll get some conf grenades for E3. I’m grabbing the new Gamespy Debriefing now. Did they ever fix the one from last week?
Pretty disappointed at how suddenly the PA/DnD podcast ended. Hopefully it’s just the first adventure in a series. I love hearing Kris Straub in stuff nearly as much as MSUSteve loves hugging his life-size Jensen Ackles body pillow.
Chris has apologized for that. They’re going to try and record something in the next couple of days from whenever he answered that question that he answered in that thing that he linked from his Twitter account. Apparently he was on vacation and then other people weren’t available and then something about Big Bird and then wizard video games horsebag.
I’ll also take this time to again praise Jumping the Shark.
Oh, Jeff Goldblum! Now I understand. Gone goldman jeffgate bloomgold.
I definitely think that was an issue. Outside of Garnett’s extreme hyperbole, I found the rest of the cast kind of lifeless and lacking energy. Several of the 4 minute warning questions just flat out bombed (“what would it take to get you to buy a new console”, “are you immersion or a mechanics guy”, etc).

No kidding. Compared to some other unofficial D&D actual play podcasts which sometimes run up to 4 hours for a session, this session was very short and really chopped up into tiny bits. I’ve heard part of it might be because they were using the first of the new season of “Encounters” adventures which are supposed to only take an hour or two.
Hug. Yeah. That’s all we do. Hug.
Actually, after posting the above I decided to double check and, low and behold, they’ve posted two more episodes. So it might be a more continuing thing than it initially seemed.
I hope you do your own laundry. :(
Just wait until I get my custom made Bahimiron body pillow. Bahimillow.
I didn’t need that in my head at this point in time.

Can’t tell if it was a joke or something. But did the host of 4 guys 1 up really say he was going to work for EIB networks?

Oh god, why did I even bother listening to it? Even without the antics of Shane there, it reminds me exactly why I loathed 1uy so much. Between complaining about the absence features that were never even hinted at being considered at being included, and the blatant double standard with ME2…Not to mention how he immediately jumped from complaining about bugs in AP than jumped to giving a blow job to RDR…

A new Idle Thumbs on the same day as Jeff Green announces he’ll be on Geekbox this week? It’s like CHRISTMAS IN HERE.
(by “here”, I mean “my pants”).
Sounds like that’s exactly the case.
