I agree with you on the bullying thing, Bahimiron. I guess the only saving grace is that Ryan seems able to take it in stride and laugh at himself. He got a lot of shit on GFW, too, but it comes across as pretty mean-spirited on Gamespy Debriefings. Mean-spirited and really, really repetitive.
On the other hand, the Street Fighter 2 voice acting impressions have been outstanding.
So he deserves to be given shit for playing a game that he never actually mentions? That’s asinine.
Ryan gets made fun of on both Geekbox and Debriefings, and it’s with good reason.
What Karen Chu and Ryan Higgins do is nothing compared to what Scott does.
What’s really asinine is your hope otherwise. I don’t know why you would think that the Debriefings guys of all people would look past all that and consider the good things…
Ryan’s been the butt of three casts’ worth of jokes and it’s easy to see why.
Damn, listening to Leigh was painful.
The difference is that, at least with GFW, the ribbing was good-natured and funny.
They’re meaner to him, but I still think it’s funny. Apparently so does most of the audience, or they’d’ve stopped by now. Ryan takes it well, anyway. You guys crack me up with beliefs like “People should be made fun of only for that which they voluntarily bring up.”
Anyway, I encourage everyone to listen to IGN’s Sony podcast this week, Podcast Beyond. They have a pretty catchy, original videogame-inspired song called “2-Player Co-Op” that was submitted by a fan this week. It’s a real delight, and I hope the song’s creator makes some good money on iTunes.
The song starts at 64:00. It’s full of 8-bit samples and videogame references.
In the alternative, you could buy the song at http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/2-player-co-op-player-2-press/id379891536?i=379891556
They can make fun of him for whatever they want, but I can think that they’re unfunny dumbasses.
Well, if they’re making fun of him for always bringing it up when he’s never the one who brings it up, it is just a little silly. And by silly, I mean stupid. But if you get off on a couple of fratboy douchebags pantsing nerds, by all means, have at it. It’s pretty clear by this point that you’re a member of the Official Will Give Scott Bromley A Blumpkin If He Asks Fanclub.
Way to keep it classy. Anyway, they don’t make fun of him for always bringing it up. They make fun of him for playing it. Which he still does.
Bromley’s only funny sometimes, but that’s still enough to keep me listening to this one over some other site’s formulaic weekly cast. I haven’t liked the videos or articles of his I’ve seen. I just think the podcast works well.
Had some frustrating sound issues this episode. This is what happens when our producer takes the week off to attend his daughter’s “recital”…the slacker.
That was more interesting when I missed the i in the middle of that word.
I could tell a story about how that’s almost an actual thing actual people actually have to actually have done. Actually. But I won’t.

Boy, you listen Robert Ashley’s “A Life Well Wasted,” and then compare it to one of these “drunk guys rambling, sometimes even about gaming” podcasts… Ashley should be really proud of what he does. I’d like to see them a little more frequently, but hey, quality over quantity.
Though if I never have to hear about Jonah Falcon’s unit again, I will be a happy person.
Apparently that segment was supposed to be a joke at his expense, or something.
I missed it too. But I fell asleep in the middle of the first segment, so I assume that I don’t know what I’m talking about on this one.
Hey, Shane Bettenhausen is back on Weekend Confirmed! Hope he stays on so we can have some awesome shouting matches with Garnett Lee.
apparently Robert is not alone, here is Daily Show making fun of him
Seems like this should be in the Game Journalism 2010 thread. Kinda sad when our most visible members are those with the most visible members.
Yeah, I actually quite enjoyed last friday’s weekend confirmed. That group of 4 has good chemistry and there weren’t as many forced bits.

I enjoyed it too but I thought that Shane (and the podcast in general) was a bit … quiet. I concluded that it is because of this podcast’s mellow, EVERYONE IS OUR FRIEND AND LETS NOT ARGUE :)) atmosphere and that I miss the old 1up Yours.
Is he going to be a regular?! Subscribing.
