Without the flirting I never realized how annoying these girls could be. She sounds exactly like every other girl I’ve ever spoken with on this continent between the ages of 17 to 42.
And the stupidity! Yes the SS thing was in poor taste but the thing that got me was that she repeatedly said with vigorous assurance that Actv spent $775 million(yes, that’s a 3 quarters of a billion dollars) to rent the Staples Centrum for a press thing for COD Black Operations. The entire room is telling her that this figure is impossible but she still keeps at it, talking over everybody. Finally someone looks it up and corrects her that it’s actually $7.75 million and then she excuses herself simply by saying she has disnumeria or whatever.
Having a disability is ok, but to try to exert your will with full force on others in an area you should know is your weakness just makes you look dumb as shit. Great, now anything you ever say will be doubted.
This was the 1st and last time I will ever hear her voluntarily. Even without this incident she was annoying and uninteresting.
I needed this off my chest.

Wow, you don’t get out much, huh?
…spent $775 million(yes, that’s a quarter of a billion dollars)…
(Just over) three quarters of a billion dollars.
Perhaps you’re right, 50% is too low!
Yeah, what Robert does is really special and unique. Every episode has something interesting from a game culture perspective. I don’t find every segment scintillating but this is work that somebody should be doing and I’m glad it isn’t me.
Because that shit is hard.

Yea I love the composition of A Life Well Wasted, and I usually enjoy the content, but I have no desire to hear about a man’s 15 inch dick (as impressive as that might be) for 20 minutes on a gaming podcast.

It’s not a gaming podcast though.
It’s a podcast about videogames and the people who love them.
Thing is I don’t care about the people that love videogames. I have no interest in a podcast about them. Honestly I do not enjoy listening to Robert Ashley when he is on Rebel FM and I have never made it through an episode of A Life Well Wasted.
I’d much rather listen to some people sit around and intelligently discuss the games. I don’t want to hear about their personal lives and musical interests. Three Moves Ahead scratches that itch for me.
2 minute podnounceblast from Idle Thumbs stating they hope to have a real podcast out by the end of the week.
Also, they’ve been booked to do a live panel podcast thing at PAX. I’d be excited, except those live panel podcast things always have the shittiest sound. Anyway, live panel podcast things are always more interesting when it’s getting back together a group of people who don’t regularly podcast together anymore (the classic 1up crew, CGW Radio) and even though the word ‘regular’ may not apply to Idle Thumbs, they still blast pods all over your face every now and again.
They are getting the classic Thumbs together - apparently Breckon is going to be at the panel, so he can make bird noises and not say anything that I remember again.
So is the QT3 games podcast dead?

PAX is looking to be quite the podcasting mecca. I heard there’s also going to be Retronauts, Bombcast, and another GFW reunion panel. I think I may have to go to all 4.

The latest Eurogamer podcast featuring Charles Cecil (of Broken Sword fame if like me you didn’t know who he is) is pretty great. Some really interesting anecdotes and the man just comes across as a bit of genius.

New Idle Thumbs today. Awesome as always.
Hey podcasters, you should be talking about Minecraft. Make it happen. Thanks.
The latest Gamespy Debrief is yet another fantastic example of how great these guys are at making podcasts.
“Hey, so Ryan has a game he wants to talk about.” Absolute silence. “DeathSmiles? That’s a bullet hell, right?” More silence. “Is it on the PS3?” Silence. “Right, like Ikaruga.” Silence. “Is it a full price game?”
I’m going to assume someone forgot to do a mic check beforehand.
Yeah, they really fucked that one up. And one of the guys was much louder than the others.
In case anyone normally listens to the PC Gamer podcast, I learned why iTunes hasn’t shown a new one for a couple of weeks. The RSS feed has gotten screwed up or something. Anyway, for now, until they get it fixed, if you want to listen to them on your iPod you need to download them at the podcast’s website, then add the files to your music library. Not the most elegant solution, but whatever.
