Look haters, I’m gonna hate.
I like how the Idle Thumbs guys interact with games, in general. They like to observe the games as weird little narratives, and I love hearing Chris’ stories about the new Stalker or their perspectives on Red Faction (that led to Space Asshole).
Feels like every podcast this week talked about SimAnt for some random reason.

I assumed maybe he was just vaguely remembering high level MP games when everyone had life steal weapons and all kinds of auras and buffs going…

I only enjoyed Garnett as a foil to Shane B’s fanboyism.
That is about it.
He is the type of guy that will wax philosophical about the finer points of a 25 minute indie game that is popular on the internet, and then tweet about how “totally rad this movie was bro!” He is just… too much… Garnett.
I think he’s a better producer than he is host.
You didn’t stick around for the “shit my pants” story?
No, but I still have it on my MP3 player, I can go back to it. But I have other podcasts to listen to first. I LIKE Gamespy Debriefings, I just don’t like that one guy - his name escapes me, but usually the things he says irritate me, and I get a real “let’s pick on the little guy for the things he’s into” sort of High School vibe from him and others on that podcast. Irritating. Sometimes it can be a bit much.
I couldn’t get through one episode.
Granted I haven’t listened to any debriefings since I unsubbed about a month ago, but what’s left to actually like after all the things you just described? Last I heard those two “comedy” guys did nothing but what you described from start to finish.
One of the guys (Scott Bromley? The one who had the “shit your pants story”, anyway) is actually funny - I laugh a lot when he’s talking.
The guy that says Brrapt! Brrapt! though? Sucks ass. Not funny, and it feels like he picks on everyone else too much. Douche.

Looks like Idle Thumbs will be no more after PAX, sad but after the “BACK UP INTO SEVERED ARM” fest that was the last one… good riddance.
Good riddance? Idle Thumbs is the best pod to ever have been cast. You must be really, really old, or something.
Jesus Christ am I glad Karen Chu was on the latest Geekbox. Her telling Ryan Higgins to just shut the hell up because he was making her mad almost made up for three weeks of shit on that show. Never again am I listening to this thing unless Karen’s on there, because even though Higgins and Fitch are a couple of limpdicks, Ryan (and I say this as someone who really does like Ryan a lot) is such a milquetoast he seems completely unable or unwilling to call them on their bullshit.
Karen’s only failure was to do the math. When Higgins shouted that he’d never pay $60 for a four hour game, someone should have pointed out that $15 for a four hour game would be $60 for a sixteen hour game, which is about four hours longer than most single player games these days anyway. Then they should have kidney punched him.

Tom is on this weeks gameshark podcast, but its going to have trouble living up to last week’s Bill Abner rant.

Its like Higgins feels theres an aggravating dickhead quota that needs to be filled each podcast, and if Fitch isn’t stepping up to the plate…
Even Karen’s protestations didn’t make Higgins’ argument any less frustrating to listen to.
Also, sad news about Idle Thumbs. Be interesting to see where Remo is going though.

Geez Louise! It’s like his thoughts are an OPINION or something. What a jerk!
But seriously, I find this kind of thing entertaining, particularly when the “jerk” in question basically has nothing to back up their thoughts and struggles to respond when some one rebuts them. It sure is better than the usual “GAME/MOVIE/BOOK was super-fun”.

His opinion that a cardboard box and plastic disc instantly make a game worth $50 that’s not worth $15 sold digitally is pathologically and objectively retarded.
People are allowed to have their opinions, obviously, but when those opinions are stupid, others are allowed to attack them!

There aren’t really THAT many east coast studios so we can begin speculation now! Epic? Harmonix? Bethesda?
Nick Breckon is at Bethesda, so Remo following him there wouldn’t be much of a stretch.
