Citing something as opinion does not preclude it from also being douchey, stupid or both.

Or are you going to start jumping into P&R threads with your devastating ‘It’s like his thoughts are an OPINION or something’ defense?

Irrational and 38 Studios as well.

Breakaway Games, The Electric Sheep Company, Playdom, and Demiurge come to mind

See? This is the kind of stuff I enjoy on podcasts.

I’m catching up on the Giantbombcast and have found the two week discussion of arcade cabinets to be more than enough. People tend not to realize that when they really get into a new subculture, the rest of us don’t really give a shit.

I enjoyed it and made me wish I had a huge house to actually get a couple machines. It was the 20 min Tekken & Street Fighter talk that was very boring.

I loved the arcade talk. Besides it is a slow period for gaming so what else do they have to talk about?

It just seemed like a personal discussion you’d have with your buddies, not the sort of thing other people would find interesting to listen to. Sort of like telling people about your dreams or your kids. Most people just don’t care. I didn’t find it interesting, anyway. I didn’t turn it off or anything. I mean the Giantbomb guys are fairly entertaining no matter what they talk about. I just could’ve done without the lengthy discussion of this particular topic which spanned at least two weeks. I haven’t yet listened to the latest Bombcast, so I might be in for it again.

I think they mention they didn’t buy an arcade game but the bulk of the podcast is all Starcraft 2.

Idle Thumbs’ conversation that ended with the phrase “I love Tekken, so I guess I’ll get Starcraft II” had me near to tears. God, I’m going to miss those guys.

When people say something had them in tears, a lot of times that’s pure hyperbole. In the case of Idle Thumbs, they’ve had me in literal tears at least a few times. I can specifically recall driving home and listening to the Jeff Goldblum episode and being worried that my uncontrolled, maniacal laughter along with vision clouding tears was making it dangerous for me to drive.

Yeah see that’s the thing. The memes in Idle Thumbs and earlier Gamespy Debriefings are what gets the most laughs out of me. Sure you don’t need WIZZZAAAAAAAAARD every single episode, but overall - I’m a fan.

I think Idle Thumbs has some good conversation outside of the memes. Gamespy Debriefing on the other hand needs their memes. Without the Threadless guy and the I Haff Quesh guy, it’s just a show about dicks. Sometimes the dicks also talk about dicks.

Listening to that Jeff Goldblum thing evolve and then the guys running with it was absolutely hilarious. It wasn’t contrived or planned. It was just a weird, spontaneous thing. I like when the memes resurface periodically, but Jeff GoldGold will never be as funny as it was that first time.

I agree regarding the Debriefing. If I don’t hear from Threadless Trump or foreign game question guy, I’m not happy.

If they could bring back more I Haff Quesh-style funny and less frustrated-antagonistic funny, I’d be in. I guess that’s the kind you get when it comes from a button push, though.

Stop shitting up the thread :). Giant Bomb was huge on arcade cabinets last year too, so it’s no surprise. They’re always entertaining when they talk about it, though last year was better.

For anybody who is curious, he announced on his twitter that he’s going to Irrational Games.

Boy oh boy, there’s a new Idle Thumbs episode!

Nice, downloading it now. I wonder why my RSS didn’t feed me it.

Anyone listen the 1up Oddcast? I’m halfway through my first one and I’m finding it on par with others, though I’m pretty new to all this myself.

Three Moves Ahead hasn’t been mentioned in a while, and deserves credit for a couple of recent great episodes with Ken Levine and Soren Johnson. Both worth checking out for sure.
