Just finished listening to the Ken episode the other day - great stuff, Troy.
1up’s Oddcastis great, can’t believe no one talks about it. Much of the show is fielding listener questions/comments at a good pace so they get to talking about more different things instead of talking about one thing to death.
Seems like they also make efforts to fill you in so you’re not left out of inside jokes/info.
Episode 34 had a viewer suggestion that is in consideration: Instead of using their own voice for a podcast, they will each use a computer interpreter ala Harvey from The Office.
Ken! I knew I forgot someone.
Oh, and Tom was back this week. Welcome him back with a big cheer. Missed his voice and strength.
Troy
That’s the main reason I’ve never even given it a chance.
She’s kind of like that fly that buzzes around you all day, never ever stopping for rest.
This! Just listened to both of them. Ken, Soren and Derek were great in those 2 podcasts.
Thanks for the heads up. I completely forgot Three Moves Ahead existed since Troy and Tom stopped making new threads for every podcast at Qt3. Why don’t they do that anymore? I haven’t heard 3 Moves Ahead since the last time someone made a thread. That was a while back.
Tom has been too busy gallavanting with Bill Abner to actually show up for Three Moves Ahead lately :(
Tom, if you’re going to be so absent from TMA, then it’s time for the daily 5-minute Fidgit podcast to make up for it. Also, Fidgit should have an Android app plz kthx.
Tom has a very busy schedule and, like it or not, the GS show (which is more wide ranging in topics and genres than TMA) is more in line with his timeline and interests than TMA most of the time.
He is still and will always be an integral part of Three Moves Ahead. His support for the show was instrumental in making the show the success it has been. If Tom and Bruce and Julian and Rob always had the easy life that I do, then we could do this with the same people all the time.
I hope Tom will be around more this fall. But I do not begrudge him having a life or wanting to do other things. I remain ever in his debt (for many things) and dearly hope he can show up once or twice a month. If not, then we deal. This summer has had some great shows without him, though I’ve no doubt he and Bruce would have made them better.
Scheduling podcasts is a pain when everyone has an unpredictable schedule. People may forget this, but there was a time when Julian was the rare panelist. People go through times where not everything works for them.
As a grown up and friend of all of these guys, I accept that.
Troy
Troy, I hope you recognize my sarcasm in that last post. I realize people get busy. I have plenty of my own scheduling issues to remind me of that. I’m just ribbing Tom a bit to get him back on, darn it! :)
They are extremely receptive to listener feedback, if she was annoying in the past, I’m certain she accepted the criticism. I think she’s ok; imo she doesn’t try to dominate the conversation, she doesn’t go on+on about things, she’s not dumb and her voice isn’t unpleasant.
And after Leigh Alexander, I would be able to withstand everything.

Tina is fine on any podcast I’ve heard her on, meh.
I’ve gotten a lot of “WHERE’S TOM?” messages lately.
But I know your comments were well meant.

Three Moves Ahead has been phenomenal lately – the episodes with Ken Levine and Chris Remo in particular. They both have a great way with words, and seem like really inspiring people to hang around with. Invite them back!
Oh, and you should invite that Tom Hick guy back as well. He was pretty good, if I recall correctly.
Back when she was appearing on various 1up podcasts, including GFW Radio, my impression was that she added absolutely nothing to the show. In the case of GFW Radio specifically, I felt like Anthony’s obvious infatuation with her really hurt the show. On other podcasts I’ve heard she never seemed very knowledgeable and never made any particularly insightful or even funny comments.
Agreed. Anyone who isn’t into the tangents and joking around of Idle Thumbs, should listen to this 3 moves podcast to see why people like Remo. He’s got a real talent for insightful discussion of games.
This week’s Idle Thumbs is just brilliant from start to finish. Who needs to actually talk about games when you have the entire High School Baby mythology to flesh out? Or cyborg fashion? Or silk Gokou shirts?
What podcast is this on? Sounds like something fun to listen to!
