Huh, that’s interesting.

I wonder if that means more play to the Gaming expat group meetups that they host every Thursday evening…

I’m also surprised this wasn’t an option, but I’m sure it was a pure business decision on the part of Whiskey Media.

I just found this ‘Games with Garfield’ podcast.
I can’t yet link it, so do a google search, you bums.
It is really good! The last episode is an interview with Steve Jackson, who sounds bearded.

Edit: Thanks Zengonzo!

this should be good, looks like its made by one of the developers of Spectromancer. and an interview with illuminati ccg dude steve jackson. hey. cool.

I find it amusing that Weekend Confirmed was (basically) split up into two while the Bombcast was not.

It was? I haven’t listened in a couple weeks.

They even make a joke about it.

I must hand it to the Giantbomb guys because they’re really something. I recently began listening and downloaded an old podcast that was all about Modern Warfare 2. Now, I’m a big fan of Call of Duty but I find the campaign sort of absurd and so uninteresting but in this podcast they each of them, went way into the campaign, dissecting everything from characters, stories, setting etc. They discussed the campaign for more than 70min and went into such enthusiastic detail that I wonder: Was it all for show? If it was, put them down for an Oscar. But if it wasn’t for show, they are extremely appreciative for the great jobs they hold.

Their most recent cast was 3hrs long and I enjoyed nearly every minute of it. Thumbs up.

Hey, anybody know what happened to the previous Gamespy debrief? Episode 135 seems like it was deleted.

The Giant Bomb guys occasionally do podcasts dedicated to a single game. It’s rare, though.

I assume 135 is the one they did at PAX. I never saw it in the RSS feed, and I don’t know where else one would find it.

They mentioned in the latest one that the audio they had for the PAX panel was terrible. They’re waiting on better audio from whoever was handling the sound.

Goddammit, Gamespy Debrief, Moonchild.

That qt3 podcast about Dwarf Fortress was good amirite?

But seriously,

What podcasts do you all subscribe too. I listen to a lot at work, and any good tips would be appreciated.

Here is my itunes list.
Gaming
Giant Bombcast
Idle Thumbs (rip… :(
Irrational Behavior
A Life Well Wasted
Player One Podcast
Quarter to Three
Retronauts
Active Time Babble
The Oddcast

Non-Gaming
This American Life
Radio Lab
Smodcast
Internet Masterpiece Theatre (That one sucks though.)

You should probably add in a (soon to be RIP :() next to Retronauts.

Personally:

  • Giant Bombcast
  • Gamers With Jobs
  • A Life Well Wasted
  • Retronauts ( :( )
  • Active Time Babble
  • Irrational Behavior
  • Weekend Confirmed
  • Will be subscribing to the 8-4 podcast when I get home!
  • Warning! A Huge Podcast

I stopped listening to any other gaming podcast (Qt3 excepted, of course) other than GiantBomb and the occasional Rebel FM if I’m short on listening material. I listen to Gamespy Debriefings, but that hardly counts as a gaming podcast, really.

Non-gaming podcasts on the currently on my list:

  • Doug Loves Movies
  • Comedy Death Ray Radio
  • WTF With Marc Maron (if there’s a good guest on)
  • The Pod F. Tomcast
  • Sklarboro Country
  • Comedy Film Nerds
  • The Best Show On WFMU
  • Night People
  • Nardwuar The Human Serviette *
  • This is a weird one. Nardwuar is a dude that’s been a fixture of the Vancouver music scene since forever. He does these crazy, guerilla-style interview ambushes of musicians that are half crazy, in-depth hardball questions and half performance art. This might be one of those things that’s only funny if you’re Canadian. WFMU in New Jersey gave him a slot, so a lot of his interviews are now up (in audio form) on the WFMU archive page.

Giant Bomb, Gamespy Debrief, Geekbox, Idle Thumbs, Irrational Behavior, A Life Well Wasted, Radiolab, Tweet me Harder, WDW Radio and Doug Loves Movies.

Jumping the Shark is pretty good.

Nardwuar once asked for questions to ask Glenn Danzig, and I sent in one: “Who would win in a fight, Superman or Satan?” Nardwuar wrote me back all excited, and he used it as his wind-up question. Danzig’s answer was “Uhhhhhh…Satan.” No explanation given.

I cut down my podcasts like crazy:
iFanboy (video and audio shows and sometimes their other side stuff)
Radiolab (going through all of it right now)
A Life Well Wasted
A Comic Book Orange (awesome five minute podcast that seems to be on hiatus)

It all averages out to about two hours of podcast listening/watching a week not including me going through the Radiolab backlog.
