The Gameshark podcast is pretty good, especially the one from yesterday which the topics were about the most overrated games and disappointing games of 2010.
There was also discussion on otters and their holding hands cuteness which was an internet phenomenon some time ago that I didn’t know about. Apparently, one of the otters was an Exon Valdez survivor.

Jeff Green is on the Bombcast this week.

Maybe I’ll check out the joystiq one. I currently listen to:

  • Geekbox
  • GWJ
  • Jumping the shark
  • Bombcast
  • Qt3 Games
  • Player One
  • Gamespy Debriefings (I’m fine with the nonsense)
  • Weekend Confirmed (waning interest, but I listen to it when I’m desperate)

Peabag! Seems like he kind of got lost in the crowd on this one. I guess 5 people may be one too many for a podcast.

Looking forward to the GotY podcast and I was so happy to hear Ryan strongly imply that the Nintendo new release stuff would have to go away in 2011.

New Gamespy Debrief. Hearing Scott immediately start attacking the weight of the crew on the Bombcast made me genuinely happy that Bombcast is going to win the Podcastie for best Gaming Podcast without even having mentioned it on their show, while Gamespy Debrief will come in second even while every member of the cast begs for votes.

I tend to agree with the people who aren’t voting for GD, if only because I tend to consider it far more of a comedy podcast than a gaming podcast. Also, I won’t vote anyway because the podcasties? Really? Who cares?

The podcast awards site is really poorly designed and I have no idea how they even chose their nominees. I don’t know why the Gamespy guys care. I bothered to vote for them twice, though, because they’re funny, and they deserve the nod, dammit. One of my comedy weaknesses is Star Fox jokes, and this latest episode really delivered.

Despite following podcast threads on multiple forums, this is the first I’ve ever heard of this award.

Anybody notice Giantbomb increased the number of quicklooks they’re putting out, or is it just me? I really like hearing them, I’ll watch quicklooks for games I have zero interest in just because I love listening to these dudes go on+on.

The Games, Dammit guys’ favorite (not “best”) games of the year:

Matt Leone: Heavy Rain
Scooter: RDR
Parish: Dragon Quest IX
Frank: Deadly Premonition

I love this show and really hope 1up gets more traffic.

I’ll have to check that one out!

I think it’s a bonus of the new offices they moved to mid-year – dedicated areas and greenscreens pre-setup and such.

I think it is much easier for them to pop in, and get a video done and edited with their new set up.

Which is great for the viewers.

:)

I ran across a really interesting Let’s Play commentator on Youtube recently. Her style of commentating is wildly unique. Even games that I consider really boring she has a way of making very interesting and funny. Listen to some of her 600+ videos and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

“topped with a Spaghetti-o’s reduction”. Okay, I gotta hand it to them. Gamespy Debrief had me nearly weeping with laughter this week.

She’s seems pretty kooky and funny. I’ll definitely check out more of her clips.

I didn’t realize Giantbomb has had new podcasts today and also yesterday, it’s for their games of the year discussions. They’re also putting up videos that wrap up the day, day one ended with a look at their PC game of the year, StarCraft2 and Brad putting his multiplayer reputation on the line…and [spoiler removed].

I thought her accent was impossibly cute, and as her profile reveals, she’s from Cali, so it must be an affectation. She’s in law school, so enjoy her videos while you can.

Maybe she’ll do the sensible thing and drop out before she’s in too deep, loan-wise.

I agree. She says in one video she got a 160 on her LSAT, so she can’t be T14-ing it. I’m at one, and I still have plenty of friends graduating with no job.

Giant Bombcast’s day one deliberations was pretty good, though I kind of wanted to smack Brad Shoemaker at a number of points. Also I found myself trying to remember who Morton in ME2 was until they started talking about his plot and then I realized none of them were saying his damn name correctly. Ryan and Brad arguing over the morality of the genophage was kind of funny, though Brad’s insisting Ryan must have misunderstood the situation makes me think that Brad misunderstood the whole damn point of the story.
