Props to Jeff for his VVVVVV love.

I really enjoyed the Giant Bomb Day One deliberations, but I’m 49 minutes into Day Two and Vinny and Brad have been debating Minerva’s Den vs. Shadow Broker for at least 40 of those minutes. Fast-forward, folks; it’s excruciating.

He was talking about the 4 Player Podcast, or whatever that one that won was called. Good job jumping to conclusions and being a vindictive jerk though. Also, do you honestly not see that Bromley is just playing the part of the troll and doesn’t actually mean most of what he says?

I generally enjoy the show, but these deliberation podcasts are a little bit terrible. Day One basically consists of a lot of stupid debates that boil down to “I didn’t like Limbo” or “Deadly Premonition is terrible,” and then they embarrass themselves (as always) when trying to discuss PC games.

Plus with the GiantBomb podcasts you have a Brad who pretty much sleepwalks through the podcast all year and all of a sudden just turns into a bully and starts dominating the casts. I’ve pretty much opted out the GotY podcasts at this point though I may listen to the final one depending on who they end up giving it to.

That’s fine. Same comment applies.

Not voting for them in something I specifically said I wouldn’t be voting for anyone in anyway makes me a vindictive jerk? Wow. You, uh, you really seem to have a stake in all of this, Eric. I’m sorry that I was mean to the C-grade internet celebrities you desperately wish were your friends? I’ll never do it again, I guess?

I’m certain that is true sometimes. Just as I’m certain it’s true that sometimes he’s just a classless tool. Which is okay. Classless tools can be, and often are, funny. But the nature of the term still applies.

This is pretty fair. I was on Jeff’s side this year when he was going off on how much he hated Limbo. Oddly enough though, I was on Brad’s side last year when he was the only one standing up for Flower. Usually I love Vinny, but he really seemed to hate that game.

Uh, talking about overweight guys who wear jorts and shants? How could it NOT be GB? 4Player may have won, but GB was expected. Who the hell listens to 4P, anyway? They apparently have more dedicated fans, though. In any case, glancing at the 4P site, I don’t see fat guys wearing jorts, though they hide their pictures.

The Giant Bomb GOTY podcasts really underscore how important civility and prudent moderation are to their chemistry. I don’t understand why Ryan checked out for the hour long Minerva’s Den/Lair of the Shadow Broker stalemate. Maybe he was traumatized by hearing Jeff literally hiss in disgust at Brad. Anyways, today’s installment was way smoother, though the footage of them playing SMG: 2 will probably make you hurl.

And holy shit, you are actually underselling how long that goes on. It’s the first thing they talk about, and it runs until 1:14:15.

Thanks for recommending the Minerva v. Shadow discussion. It cracked me up. Neither of the great debaters even beat Bioshock 2.

“Shadow Broker is boring until the big twist at the end. Minerva very carefully unrolls story as you play.”
“No it doesn’t! Minerva’s Den only has one twist!”
“It’s like five twists rolled into one.”
“Plus, what Shadow Broker unveiled at the end really tied back into the main game, whereas Minerva was self-contained and grafted-on.”
“It’s a very layered twist.”

I love that even after Vinny concedes, they continue to argue for another fifteen minutes.

It was cute how various gaming podcasts (mainly Weekend Confirmed) tried to establish their cred by nominating games like Metro 2033 and STALKER: Call of Pripyat for various awards while it was painfully obvious that not a single soul had played either of their for even a single second. Amnesia probably goes on that list as well.

Personally I’m loving the GotY podcasts, but I gotta agree with the Minerva’s Den vs. Shadow Broker debate. Ryan should have stepped in after 30 minutes --AT MOST-- and forced a decision for the group. They weren’t saying anything new after that point.

The vindictive comment was more directed at the snarky attitude you take in your posts. You’re trying to sound like you’re taking some sort of moral high ground when you didn’t even understand who the comment was meant for in the first place. There’s just something really grating about the venom you put into your posts, especially over something so stupid.

In the future I will attempt to follow your example of posting by dredging up two week old posts and calling people jerks.

Agreed. Also it was painful for me because I haven’t played / completed any of the top 3 DLC they mentioned but I have every intention to beat them all (just bought Shadow Broker thanks to the sale) so I had to mute / FF through some of their spoilers.

I first ran into 4 Player Podcast a couple of years ago over at justin.tv. They are one of the most viewed gaming video podcasts at justin.tv along with swiftor, and those justin.tv fans are attack dogs when it comes to their communities. I think 4PP sponsored their last E3 trip by community donation. *Note to self, start video broadcasting, put up donation link, goto to E3.

The 4PP guys are all young and none are extremely fat that I remember. To me, fat podcasters who wears jorts equates to Kevin Smith, but I’m old so maybe “jort wearing MF’ers” is some new hipster cut down.

When Scott made the comment he was referring to people who were telling him the Debriefings were funny, but they were still voting for the “overweight guys in jorts”. I don’t think the 4 Player Podcast was even on his radar at the time, so I’m sure he was talking about Giant Bomb. I thought that GB would win, too. I’d never heard of 4PP until they won that award. Bromley probably hadn’t either.

Anybody hear of someone named ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER? Seems he’s funny enough for Giantbomb to include his Top10of2010 list. Samples:

4. RED DEAD REDEMPTION
OWNAGE ON A BIBLICAL LEVEL. THERES NOTHING LIKE HOGTYING AN INNOCENT GUY AND CARVING HIM UP WITH A HUNTING KNIFE AND SNATCHING THAT SIX BUCKS HE HAD ON HIM AND THEN GOING HOME TO BE A FAMILY MAN. I MEAN THERES LOTS OF GAMES THAT LET YOU COMMIT ATROCITIES BUT THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I CAN THINK OF WHERE YOU CAN GO ABOUT IT LIKE THE FUCKING BTK KILLER

7. FABLE III
MOLYNEUX IS LIKE AN UNEMPLOYED DRUNKEN FUCKUP DIVORCED FATHER BECAUSE HE WILL PROMISE YOU THE WORLD AND THE MOON AND ALL THE FUCKING STARS IN THE SKY AND THEN KICK HIS OWN ASS FOR A YEAR STRAIGHT WHEN HE INEVITABLY FAILS TO DELIVER. BUT FUCK IT AT LEAST HE HAS ENTHUSIASM AND THE STONES TO MAN UP AND ADMIT WHEN HES WRONG AND FABLE III MIGHT NOT BE THE WORLD AND THE MOON AND ALL THE STARS IN THE SKY BUT ITS STILL PRETTY FUCKING GREAT
