Seconded. It just wasn’t funny anymore.

That said, it might actually be funny again as it’s own thing. By the time they got to it in the regular podcast, things were winding down and it felt like it.

Jumping the Shark has quickly become a favorite of mine, too. I started listening when Tom mentioned he was going to be on, but I’m enjoying the whole cast’s commentary and banter.

Now, about the current design of Gameshark.com: The Straw That Stirs the Drink needs to become The Whip That Flogs the Webmonkeys. Please, please, do whatever it takes to get a redesign for that thing!

Pretty much why I’m not watching it. Dan’s tastes and reasoning often mystify me and Alex’s “average dude” take on things didn’t really do it for me though I realize that’s what makes the show work for others.

Even better animated.

The new Nintendo Download X-Press is hilarious. I don’t now if Jeff can do this much longer but this one was great. Giant Bomb this week has pretty big shoes to fill.

Dear God yes. The new Nintendownload is amazing. I was cringing the whole way through, Jeff can do wounded pathos really well :D

I agree up until the end, I have gone back and listened to a few of the older 1UY and GFW podcasts when I was bored and didn’t feel like finding something new. Some of those episodes had a chemistry and enthusiasm that I loved. And while I listen to and enjoy several gaming podcasts I have a hard time finding a podcast today that I enjoy as much (Though I’ll freely admit that nostalgia may be playing a huge part in that feeling)

On another note, Brian leaving WC is disappointing, but it sounded like he didn’t enjoy what he was doing, and I hope he (and anyone else I know) find success and happiness wherever he ends up. I also hope they get a few solid personalities in there for the 3rd and 4th chair.

The best part seems to be that he tricked Brad and Vinny into being on it.

Gary Whitta has gotten me hooked on the tested podcast. Just what a need, another 2+ hour podcast to listen to each week.

What kind of stuff do they talk about on Tested? Is it just computer tweaking/building or do they do general gadget stuff as well?

Based on some discussion here I tried out the latest Jumping the Shark podcast. Not bad. I kind of groaned when they said they were going to retread the trite “let’s talk about violence in games” debate, but even if the content wasn’t interesting it showed they could actually think deeply about games and express themselves while having decent chemistry. I’m going to listen to a few more and if I continue to like them I’ll drop Weekend Confirmed. The lack of Brian Lehey is hurting that podcast more than I realized it would.

Everything. Lots about cell phones, tablets, kitchen gadgets, notable apps, set top boxes, televisions, etc, etc. It’s a really entertaining podcast. they spent a lot of time talking about dyson spheres last week.

As a regular Jumping the Shark listener since last fall, I’ll tell you this “let’s talk about violence in games” episode was the weakest I’ve heard, probably because I’m so tired of the topic. The lack of Danielle didn’t help either. So do please listen to a few more.

At first I was conviced they were in on it, but having listened to the Bombcast now I think they were really tricked, making it even funnier.

Ryan is out sick, a problem with the spine according to twitter, explaining how Jeff tricked them.
A wish of a quick recovery to Ryan.

Our review’s up. We took our time with this one, Josh put 80 hours into it.

I listened to the Joystiq podcast based on the number of recommendations here, and I have to say I’m a complete convert. Its miles ahead of the other gaming podcasts I’ve listened to.

I think its partly down to how much they invest (emotionally) in the podcast. My favourite game writing comes from RPS and Eurogamer, but thats because you can tell the writers on those sites are passionate about the art of writing. Their podcasts feel more like: “well I guess we better do this podcast thing”.

To put it another way, I’m guessing that if an RPS contributor thinks of a great line, he saves it for a written article. If a Joystiq host thinks of a great line, he saves it for a podcast.

Tony.

You’ve sold me Tony. I’ll definitely check the Joystiq podcast out.

On Gamespy Debriefings and other podcasts, I keep hearing about guys who play the podcast in front of their girlfriends. I can’t believe this. Do any of you do this? I’d be too ashamed.

Sometimes I don’t even play it in front of myself.

I play it in front of girlfriends I no longer want to be associated with.

Ashamed of what, that you enjoy your hobby? I don’t play game podcast for the girlfriend because she’s not interested. Of course, I don’t play Gamespy Debriefings at all any more. That show went from “those guys are funny because they’re assholes” to “I can’t stand those guys because they’re assholes.”

Did Joystiq change anything in the last year and a half? I thought those guys were kind of dull then. If they’ve changed I might give them another try.

Giving Joystiq a try today. That one guy sounds so much like Chris Remo. Liking it so far.
