The most recent Bombcast is pretty funny. It’s Brad-less, which might be why I liked it more. (Brad seems like a nice guy, but he’s the weak link on the Bombcast for me.)

The past few weeks of Bombcasts have been a bit off, due to a combination of factors (Ryan Davis got sick and was gone from a couple, and the crew was generally tired from the GDC and other convention schedules). So I guess what I’m saying, B., is to just pick up from this week’s and go from there.

It’s unreasonable how much I am enjoying Jeff Gerstmann’s (staged) decline into madness with the Nintendownload Xpress. The latest one where he’s crying over Steam at the end is just great. The ridiculously hard to remember email address gets a chuckle from me every time too.

Give it time, they’re getting into the groove of things again. I’m thankful there’s people who give a crap about those kind of topics.

Anybody see the Giantbomb quicklook on Tiger Woods? They were demonstrating PS Move and poor Ryan Davis was sweating up a storm basically from the start. I guess it must be hot in there but Alex Navaro looked ok.
He seems to get sick frequently, I have to wonder it’s related. I hope he’s seeking help.

I’ve mentioned before that Ryan Davis hasn’t looking well for the past 6 months. I hope he gets better but hearing about his life style, frequent health issues and eating habits I’m rather worried.

Being sedentary and overweight will do that. Hopefully he’ll have a wakeup call. He’s not a young kid anymore, either.

That said, I think the PAX pox hit all of them, and that after they’d been run down by a series of conferences. In the podcast they did a few weeks ago where it was just Jeff, Vinny, and Brad you couldn’t help feeling for the guys. Their misery was palpable, but they soldiered on and did a full length podcast despite it.

When Whiskey moved into its new offices, Giant Bomb did a little tour video. In the video, Ryan couldn’t walk the length of their working area (about 25 meters or so?) without breaking a sweat, becoming visibly winded, and needing to sit a little.

Not only that, but I love all the random bits and asides he inserts into the full Bombcasts that reference the Xpress but are a little subtle.

OT, but what books?

Their all day Kinect show should have been the wake-up call since it put a hurting on him.

Wanted to join in with the lamenting about the Mobcast from a few posts back. Glad to see I’m not the only one who feels that way about it. I like Hsu and a lot of the other guys over at Bitmob, but goddamn is their podcast boring most of the time. They need to lighten up and have fun with it instead of trying to be super serious and on-topic all of the time. A lot of the guests are pretty boring too. One episode I can recall they had some awful gaming comedians in there or something, it was so bad I turned it off after the first few minutes.

Mobcast would be a lot better if everyone lightened up over there a bit :)

Mobcast has been boring since Robert Ashley stopped participating.

So, like, episode 5?

I had to take a break from gaming podcasts and I’ve been catching up on the absolutely brilliant and always entertaining Nerdist podcasts. Did I miss anything these past few weeks? I did listen to Knocking Boots though.

Is it me, or are podcasts where drinking is liberal sort of NOT fun? It’s like being the guy at a bar not drinking, everyone else is just obnoxoius. In the latest Knocking Boots the quality was seriously dropping fast as the Cap’n was being consumed, I thought.

A couple of weeks ago I listened to the excellent Three Moves Ahead episode discussing the future of strategy gaming, and now I’m interested in a podcast that focuses on the commercial aspects of the video game industry. Sales figures, revenues, margins, profits, business models, F2P vs one-off packaged sales, bricks-and-mortar retail vs digital, PC vs console, social vs hardcore, you get the idea. Besides looking to see if EA, Activision, or one of the other listed players has recorded its earnings calls in downloadable format, does anybody have any suggestions?

Game Theory podcast, was the only that I now of, that covered those topics but is long gone now.

I agree and don’t really understand why Parish didn’t just let it die (after stabbing it repeated). Ironically, all of his own negative comments regarding the old show have come to fruition in this poor resurrection. Oh, well, we wouldn’t be Retronauts if we didn’t pine for the old days.

On my third episode of NDX and I can honestly say that it’s the only gaming podcast anyone needs to listen to.

I go on giantbomb once or twice a day and have rarely seen it. What section is it posted in? Seems like they’re deliberately trying to hide it…

Get it from Jeff blog http://blog.jeffgerstmann.net/ or the RSS feed http://blog.jeffgerstmann.net/?feed=podcast&format=mp3

I´m not sure if Jeff can keep it up much longer, but managed to put out some memorable episodes. If you haven’t listen to one, start from the beginning.

Yeah, NDX is a gem, this week’s bombcast is pretty good as well.

The clooooouuuuuuuuud!
