Gamepro seems to be ashamed of having a podcast I couldn’t find it anywhere on the main page, then doing a search I see that they have besides the roleplayer’s Realm podcast more two podcasts, one about sports that like the RPG one is made by ex 1UP staff, in fact most of Gamepro staff seems to be from 1UP now. At least the RPG podcast has proper download link and a RSS feed. The other two only have a Itunes link and a embedded player, I not installing Itunes so not going to bother to try them out. I liked APB so I’ll try the RPG one.

If you are enjoying LA Noire and listen to Jumping the Shark, skip ahead 20 minutes on this week’s episode the moment Bill starts talking about it. THANKS, WABNER! THAT WAS SARCASM. Last week I skipped the LA Noire talk too, but this episode caught me off guard. They were talking in a very non spoily way, then suddenly a shot rang out and I was spoiled. Go forth and strike the spoiling fiends with the sword of justice, lads.

I heard/read that Giantbomb will be doing an end of day livestream in a house they’re renting everyday but I can’t find it. Is it for paid members only?

edit: I think it may be here http://www.justin.tv/giantbomb but it’s too early.

I don’t think it’s happened yet. Their site says 10pm for each of those events, though I don’t know what time zone that is. Probably PT, which means a bit over 2 hours from now.

edit - it will be here when it starts - http://www.giantbomb.com/chat/

Actually, Giant Bomb is about to go Live right now.

It has begun. Whitta is present.

Also present is John Blow(creator of Braid) and 2 dudes from Microsoft. Highlight so far has been Blow giving the MS dudes a hard time for the bureaucratic red tape that surrounds XBLA. Citing ancient xbox1 precedence, they’re not defending themselves all that well.
Pretty entertaining.

Lotta hate for the MS guys in the scrolling GB / Justin tv chat. No surprise there.

Yes, Jonathon Blow giving them the business has been the best part. I enjoy a little inside baseball regarding where TCRs coming from, and some of the heady design philosophy stuff, but Stepto and whatshisname couldn’t help sliding back to schilling again and again.

Tonight’s Giantbomb livestream is counting down to its 11pm EST start.

edit: that link’s not working
this one should http://www.justin.tv/giantbomb/popout

David Jaffe is great on the Live Bombcast. Good group tonight, with great discussions.

For me these bombcasts have been, by far, the best thing about E3.

Last night went nearly 3.5hours(not counting the break). Tonight it’s up to 4hrs with breaks.

Jaffe/Double Fine/Naughty Dog was a great mix. Really great discussion out of that.

I’d also recommend Jumping the Shark’s first E3 podcast posted this morning (the version from last night was broken). It’s the regular crew plus Tom, Mitch Dyer and another guy who’s name I didn’t catch. Lots of funny stuff from the show floor and it was nice to hear Tom laying in to the Kinect and ill-conceived pap like Fable: The Journey.

It started well. I’ll have to redownload it, because something somewhere pinched me off after about sixteen minutes.

I could barely stand the Jonathan Blow stuff, it was unprofessional of him to put those 2 guys who decided to come to the bombcast for fun on the hotseat like that. They were not expecting the inquisition jonathan was giving him. What did he expect? They were on the record, they can’t say anything at all. I think it would have been fine, but he kept going back to it over and over again. It seemed like everyone was expecting a relaxed discussion about all of the new stuff coming out, but Jonathan was making it all about his problems with XBLA. He was really monopolizing the discussion, valid points he was making or not. I did like how Gary chimed in… “How about we move away from microsoft?”

I agree. Blow sounded like a douche.

I’m not a big fan of Jonathan Blow (or Braid) but I have to agree with everything he said. I found the Podcast to be very enjoyable.

That “other guy” was QT3’s own Jason McMaster. At least I am assuming that there aren’t two of them, one who posts here and another who just happens to appear on a podcast with Tom Chick.

Unprofessional of him to explain how Microsoft’s TCRs are limiting to a game designer? That’s exactly the kind of stuff I want to hear at these things. And it’s not surprising that they have justifications for all the TCRs Blow mentioned, but he’s not wrong about how they limit what he can do with a game on a fundamental level, and that competing platforms are less restrictive and open to knew ideas of what a game can be.

It probably wouldn’t have gone on for so long if the Microsoft guys would have backed off from cheerleading their employer. They could not shut up about how cool Kinect is or how great it is that MS is unifying the UI aesthetic across Xbox, Win 8 and Win Phone 7. That and all the, “it’s not for you” talk about Kinect is what really took up so much time. They may have just wanted to chill, but Stepto couldn’t help steering the conversation back to MS again and again.

Besides, we did get that cool discussion about infocom and puzzle game design, etc. That was good stuff.

Oh, was it? I think I missed the introduction and after that it was just a voice I didn’t recognize. Anyway, that was a fun one. Looking forward to more.
