Jeff and Zav do a decent enough job telling Garnett when he’s being dumb. I don’t think her like, ya know opinions are worth having to listen to in exchange for her ability to shut Garnett up once in a while. In fact, I think Garnett makes more “jokes” and comments when she’s there than when she’s not. It comes off as a juvenile attempt to impress or flirt with her. Obviously I don’t know what’s going through Garnett’s head in that regard, but that’s what it sounds like to me and it’s annoying.
Man, Brad is just getting on my nerves lately on the Bombcasts.
Why? I’ve never understood the Brad hate. He’s no Vinny, sure, but I don’t see the problem.
There’s Brad hate? That’s unfortunate - I find him quite affable.

The only time I felt any apathy toward Brad was during the GOTY debates where he was arguing about the damn Minerva’s Den DLC and refused to bow out when the other three all supported Lair of the Shadow Broker as the year’s best DLC. That is 90 minutes of my life that I will never get back.
Other than that display of stubbornness, he’s alright.

Jane Pinckard was great on podcasts. I just googled her and it doesn’t look like she’s been on any though, and her blog hasn’t been updated in months.
Brad’s tone of voice and manner of speech are a lot like my face - they appear as though they don’t want to be there and really don’t want to engage in anything at all. I’m pretty sure that’s just a consequence of Brad sounding like Brad, though, and there’s not much he can do about it.
His voice is waaaay less offensive (to my ears) than many others I’ve complained about here and elsewhere. Really, I think GB is the only podcast where I really like EVERY voice and personality on the show, including the new guy (Patrick) who I KEEP forgetting who he is EACH week, but about 10 minutes in I remember he’s not a guest on the show but a regular, and he has been a great source of information and back stories as well.

Agreed. Andrea was idiotic for practically every single thing she said on the latest episode.
The full hour of discussion on California Extreme and arcade games in the latest Bombcast really tried my patience. I love arcades as much as anybody, but there just isn’t that much interesting to say about 30-year old games and the obsessives who collect them.
I loved that part. I hated when they moved on to the news.
Also, Brad/Rudds rules.
I don’t do twitter so could somebody reiterate Ryan Davis’ story about him Twittering about the dudes smoking up on his hotel room floor? How did the Hyatt notice his tweet?

They just have a Google search alert for “Hyatt”, probably. Either that or they just search for Hyatt on Twitter multiple times a day. Or Twitter has something similar to Google alerts.
I’ve been looking forward to the latest This Year podcast recap because it’s featuring my all-time favorite gaming podcast, GFW Radio. This installment is the first year, 2006, which is unfortunate because that probably means there’s lots of Gladstone. Looking forward to the following years though.

Based on how much time Ryan and Jeff didn’t spend at California Extreme this year, I’d be surprised if there’s a fourth year on the trot. That said, I’ll miss it, I’ve enjoyed all three years of them visiting the expo and it’s only one (at most two) weeks out of the year that it gets covered.
Yeah they are backing away from the madness.
That’s built in to Twitter.com and most clients. In Tweetdeck you could just keep a column open at all times with a real-time feed of every “hyatt” mention.
I didn’t get into podcasts until late last year (or at least not gaming ones), and when I did, I started by listening to all of the PCGamer ones. I listened to them in reverse order, and they got remarkably better as I went back in time.
After that, I managed to get all of the old CGW/GFW podcasts (I still cry myself to sleep at night), and holy poop! What a ride that was. While I greatly preferred them, the old PCGamer podcasts were great in a different style, and I loved the crew with Dan Morris.
The new podcasts are quite underwhelming. Logan is amusing, and Chris is actually funny (I enjoy his USAF stories, even though he isn’t very accurate with gaming hx), but overall it’s just…something of a letdown. I think I am ageist, despite being a whippersnapper myself, and like having people like Jeff Green who have been “along for the ride,” so to speak. Also, sometimes I love Evan Lahti, and sometimes I’ve nearly turned off the podcast in a raging fit of boredom.
The last podcast I listened to started with some nonsense about “I love PCGaming because…” and it felt like an exercise in 3rd grade. I am also let down when they have games of “cat fantastic” and I know the answers to all the questions, while there are periods of silence from the gaming…experts?
But perhaps I bash too much! If I have a billion dollars, I’d toss away many millions and hire Jeff and those dorklanders to write a new CGW. And yep, I like that combination of letters better than GFW.
So, is there anything that replaces the old CGW Podcast/Brodeo? Besides Out of the Box or whatever it’s called with Jeff and Robert and S. Elliott?

Currently? No. I’d put Idle Thumbs up at or near CGW’s quality, but they’ve stopped podcasting too.
Well shucks. Regrettable, but at least I have this one to pleasure my ears for a bit. I’ll give it a shot, as I’m luckily not troubled by listening to 'casts from the past. Thanks, Skorin!
