He’s been so tailored and tamed by the industry. :-P

Still miss Idle Thumbs. Where else can I get my weekly dose of Far Cry 2 talk?

Well, pardon my misinterpretation then :) GFW pretty much got me started on the whole gaming podcast thing and it sucked what happened with Ziff. Out of the Game and the Irrational stuff though, I got the feeling you guys just got bored and didn’t feel like doing it anymore. Sorta that same vibe that Luke always gave off when you’d have him on. If I’m wrong and there is more content on the way, well then that’s great :)

Also, I’d like to add a “yes please” to the whole Remo + Gaynor thing. Irrational Idle Thumb Podcast Voltron, go!

The smiley is in case Ken is watching.

The Geekbox is educational! Now I know that I’d probably end up strangling Karen Chu. Or at least not hanging out with her very much. I never realized that she’s one of those people who can’t tell when other people are joking and assign it the appropriate authority. I can’t be around those people. It can only end in tears. Though in her defense everybody but Pizza Whistle Ryan seemed similarly dense in that regard.

However, I do demand more Al Gore stories from Scott Bromley. That was pretty excellent.

I listened to that episode awhile back to, it’s odd how Bromley just “doesn’t work” when around people like the Geekbox, for whatever reason. They just didn’t seem to realize he was joking around, sort of bizzare.

I listened to the PC Gamer podcast and I just CAN NOT stand listening to Lucas the Intern any longer. He sounds so apathetic about anything, even when he says “I’m really excited about X” it sounds like he couldn’t give a shit less, and just wants to roll back into bed. Gah!

Weird. I totally get what you’re saying, but I never really thought about it like that… Thanks for ruining it for me ;)

How’s that Games Journalism Symposium coming?

;-) right back atcha.

Ack! Sorry man! I hate when that happens! :)

On the most recent Weekend Confirmed, Garnett really wanted to let everyone know that he has a girlfriend, didn’t he? It seemed like he brought up the co-op gaming aspect of Portal 2 just so he could talk about having a girlfriend some more.

I wonder if it’s anyone we know.

… I’d thought he was married.

Weren’t they talking about two N’s, one T’s lass?
I really miss the “Can’t stop my shine” ending.

Since no one has commented on it. I presume my copy of the lastest Jumping the Shark was the only one that stopped at seven minutes?

I had that, too. They reuploaded a fixed version, but if you deleted it in iTunes like I did you’ll have to rightclick the feed and ask it to show all available episodes to download it again.

As for Weekend Confirmed, it seemed like they were especially wrong about a number of things in the most recent episode, but the only thing that sticks in my mind is their skepticism of Sony’s “All Vita games will be downloadable” proclamation. Aside from the fact this wasn’t news, and something they’ve literally been saying ever since the NGP was first revealed in March, I found Garnett’s insistence that they couldn’t control the third party publishers on this point laughable.

The reason it couldn’t be done on the PSP is because Sony could not retroactively change the terms of their publishing agreements. If a third party had no interest in taking the effort to publish their UMD games on the PS Store, there’s nothing Sony could do.

But the Vita is different. It’s a whole new platform with all new contracts and all they’ve done is required that all games published for the system must be available for sale as a download. Publishers are free to choose whether or not to sell physical copies, but digital downloads are compulsory for anyone who wants to be on the platform. Pretty simple.

Mine was also broken, which I chalked up to my home router/modem/whatever being busted and not wanting to stream the whole thing. I downloaded it again and it was fine. My only guess is that there was a bad copy up initially.

He was back at 1up. At some point he got divorced, though he never said anything about it. He just stopped mentioning Suzanne, his wife. I definitely noticed it. He also always talks about his weekend plans and whatnot and it’s clear that he’s doing that stuff as a single guy.

Cannata’s girlfriend was apparently present while they were recording the episode, but Garnett mentioned his (presumably new) girlfriend at least twice. Right at the beginning Jeff asked him how he was doing and Garnett replied that he was bummed because his girlfriend had to leave. She must not live in L.A.

Why do you guys still listen to anything that Garnett Lee is prominently involved in?

He has always been annoying and ill-informed.

I find his enthusiasm to be charming. He also produces a good show.

All of this is playing directly into a narrative I have constructed in my mind wherein Garnett is a desperately unhappy forty odd year old single dork with absolutely no talent whatsoever in communicating with individuals that he might some day seek to utilize as a sex repository.

He should probably marry that lady and stop drooling on his television-hot female cocasters posthaste.

That’s a pretty scathing review of Garnett, though I have to agree that listening to him flirt on podcasts over the years is extremely painful. Cannata is so effortless when he does it, which must be doubly frustrating for Garnett. I don’t agree that Garnett is a desperately unhappy guy though. I think he loves his life and work and I think that enthusiasm really comes through in his podcasts.

I am, of course, jesting, because I don’t know dick about Garnett’s love life, other than that the last time he was on the Bonus Round he was really sporting a terribly tragic hair situation, and coming from me that means something. Hell - if this imagination girlfriend didn’t drop him at that point it’s probably a sign from heaven that it’s meant to be. As a practical matter, I’m sure he’s well adjusted and just terribly, terribly awkward with women.

My version’s funnier, though, so that’s probably the one I’ll stick with in my mind.
