LC somehow managed to beat out a variety of folks as the worst frequently-appearing guest on a podcast. She’s awful.

Yeah, Lara seems nice enough, but her taste in games is pretty much diametrically opposed to my own.

So, if you’re a fan of The Joystiq Show, apparently most of the talent that went to Vox games is now committed to doing a podcast leading up to the launch. I assume that’s where you’ll need to go to check up with Griffin/Justin/Chris if you miss them.

Presumably Justin will cross-post when the podcast starts. Ever since they either cleverly hid or outright removed the RSS button, I can’t seem to add any recently created Twitter accounts to my reader.

Also, while we’re at it, they’re apparently looking for girls, so if you are one of those that does game writing, there you go. Considering the relative population of female writers actually in the industry I honestly wouldn’t hate them as hard as they seem to think that I will if they had to launch without a woman on staff, but they seem to be dead ass set on making some diversity hires to get other perspectives, since they appear to be eight straight white dudes.

Also, Arthur needs to shut up and stop arguing with the internet, because nobody comes out the winner in that fight.

Just a heads up that we actually did end up doing this.

Troy

What are you talking about!? The woman played Dragon Age 2 9 times, with a 10th play through under way, and found Skyrim “disappointing”. The girl clearly has it going on.

Need more be said?

Lara C’s actually a member here, but she hasn’t posted since 2007.

So, Jumping the Shark started off their latest with an apology for sucking and a dedication to redirect their efforts, but after I heard that I realized that I was listening to the podcasts out of order and I hadn’t processed 104 so I stopped it and went back. Hopefully that means they’ll get better - I wouldn’t know, because I’m processing 104 right now, and suddenly I’m kind of annoyed.

Hey Bill - you need to not talk about things that you don’t know about. Because whether Walking Dead has been bad this season or not is utterly irrelevant to Darabont’s departure because the vast majority of the work for the episodes that you’ve seen so far were done while he was still on staff, running the show. He left with about half of the season already in the can (I believe he was editing episode 8 when he got fired), and we’re about halfway through the season. And you should know that right now I kind of want to choke you a little, because you should totally know better than to speak about things you know not of.

Whoa. That was a little off.

Can you really blame him though? If you were just sifting through the news and not reading something like Deadline or a long piece in EW you would almost certainly come away thinking that Darabont had been fired before the season even got underway. The idea of a show being rudderless in its second season without its creator is a far more interesting narrative than him leaving halfway through for some reason (I guess it wouldn’t be surprising if he was fired because what he was doing really sucked).

That being said, I was a little annoyed with the lack of information as well. Not enough to want to choke him a little, but still. I think it’s a universal issue though. Podcasters can’t possibly know everything about everything and it’s annoying to the people that do know whatever they’re talking about expertly. I always used to get annoyed when the GWJ crew would talk about WoW and screw up all kinds of details despite one of them playing it obsessively.

I hold people who are journalists to a slightly higher standard, particularly when it comes to perpetuating what’s sure to become the myth of the season. I think it could have been better than it has been too, but I think it’s important before we all line up to ream AMC we understand why the things that are bad are bad. Because I fully expect to be doing that in a few months, but I also don’t think that Glen Mazzara taking over the reins will have much to do with it.

Of course, this is also kind of my beat, so it’s possible I’m just being stupid about it, because this felt to me like somebody casually claiming that Salieri killed Mozart or Shakespeare didn’t write his own material. Now, I wouldn’t apply actual violence to Bill, but still - shame.

The big point, though, is apparently they’ve taken the criticisms to heart as of the episode that I haven’t listened to yet, so good on them for that bit.

Does anyone have any inside word on PC Gamer’s podcast coming back? The last one on iTunes was Dec. 19th.

Wait, you knew I was being sarcastic, right?

I didn’t even realize PC Gamer podcast hadn’t updated in some time, that’s odd. When is it coming back?

Of course I knew you were being sarcastic, jeez. Give me some credit! :-)

The next one is the 300 episode so they are probably postponing it so they have all editors available for a cat fantastic episode.

PC Gamer US Podcast #300: ELECTROCATFANTASTIC

Surprisingly, the Bombcast got reviewed by the AV Club’s Podmass weekly review column. Less surprisingly, they didn’t like it. Apparently, the reviewer isn’t a fan of half-hour long tangents about the quality of pizza in the Bay area.

It’s all fun and games until someone tries to choke me.

That’s a general rule I try to live by.

Bill, I thought the “relaunch” 2012 JTS podcast was easily the best you folks have done in months. Really enjoyed it very much.
