I can’t believe I put down $100 without batting an eye. The swag made it really and for the hours of content they’ve provided already it’s worth it. EXCITE
Sold! Gotta get the old crew though. Terry Coleman, Charles Ardai, etc.
Oh man, just the thought…

I can’t believe I even considered the 1k option, thinking to myself “I’ll be in SF in December.”
Thumbs is back! Woo hoo!

Kicstarter, smickstarter. Charles Ardai could probably fund it. :)
The Danielle news makes me sad.

Same here. I had never listened to Jumping the Shark until Bill Abner was on a few weeks ago on the Qt3 games podcast. I’d also recently started a night shift where I had lots of spare time to listen to podcasts. So when Bill Abner was on, I thought JtS sounded perfect and I downloaded their archive from the previous year’s worth of episodes. I finally caught up last week, and now this week Danielle left the show, which is very sad, but totally understandable.
During the last few episodes, even when she’s been on, she didn’t say much and didn’t have much input since she hasn’t had time to play any games lately. So the move was very unsurprising but still very sad. I’ve really grown to love all 4 members of that podcast over the course of listening to all these episodes. It’s the only podcast I’ve listened to besides the Qt3 podcast where I really enjoy listening to the people no matter what games they’re discussing. In fact, it’s a great way to experience games that I know I’ll probably never play myself. Whether it’s Todd and Two Worlds 2, Brandon and 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand, Danielle and Donkey Kong or Bill and Crusader Kings 2.
I know people here really love the Idle Thumbs podcast, but I never really clicked with the few episodes I heard there compared to the Jumping The Shark podcast. My absolute favorite episode that really hooked me was Thanksgiving 2010’s podcast where everyone agreed to be positive and Tom Chick was on the show as well, and they all discussed games they loved that year, and it was so awesome to hear such a positive show about so many diverse games being discussed in such glowing ways.
i’d kick in if you got Scorpia back to review RPGs.
We’re putting the band back together. We’re on a mission from God.
I have to say it’s awesome seeing the positive sentiment in here for Danielle. When I was living in Boston she became one of my close friends there and I can verify emphatically that she is an amazingly cool person, so it’s no surprise that folks will miss her on JTS.

I would be shocked if Scorpia plays modern RPGs.
I’m sure she appreciates that and it’s not like she’s never coming back to do a show. The woman just has so many balls to juggle right now that the podcast is taking a backseat for the time being. There’s always a seat there for her if she wants it.
Yeah, I was always fairly intimidated by how many plates she keeps spinning.
Wow. Thank you for this. Never heard of it. Gotta add it to the rotation.

Wow, that’s a massive thread. I have two questions:
- is there an RSS feed for the Qt3 podcast?
- does anybody here know of an industry-centered podcast like the GDC Radio/Gamasutra Podcast thing that Tom Kim once produced? I have never found anything remotely as well-produced or interesting and it’s long-gone by now.

Theres actually a podcast for fans of Roguelike games? How awesome is the internet? No matter how bizarrely freakish your interests are, theres a Cottage Industry specifically catering to your needs.

Idle Thumbs is back even for the people not on the kickstarter with a GDC Conf Grenade. Great coverage of the SNES game Super Black Bass. It’s pretty sweet.
Any other good GDC discussion in a podcast? These guys had a good GDC episode last year: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/cdc-podcast/id415241874. Giant Bomb usually has some good stuff.

That is both the movie podcast and gaming one.
On GDC discussion: Gamasutra is doing an official GDC podcast this year with One Life Left. Here’s a link to their podcast items so far. I haven’t listened to the two episodes up so far, but I was a bit confused already. The first one is OLL_GDC1, and then the next day’s podcast is OLL_GDC3. Did I miss one in the middle there?
Quite possibly, though I can’t see the file names on my iPod so it’s possible they just screwed them up, and when I left for work this morning they’d only put out two shows. But regardless they’re labelled as #1 and #2. You guys should listen to them, they’ve had some great interviews so far, as well as the usual OLL silliness.
I tried listening to the Giant Bombcast for the first time, and jesus, it’s like 2.5 hours long. Is it always this long and rambly?
