I’m at the hospital now. Waiting…

The Warlocked episode of Three Moves Ahead was one of my favorites in the series. And it didn’t even feature either of my favorite recurring guests (Tom or Soren). Great discussion of Warlock and of 4X games in general. Have those guests back again.

Brandon’s emergency solo JTS was simply smashing, I thought.
Agreed. I’m glad he did that. I was pretty bummed when I heard they had lost an ep, but he made up for it admirably.

Late to “the show” but I thought others may be interested in hearing about some of the (mostly boardgaming) podcasts I listen to. My job (coder) and hobby (game/terrain/mini crafter) give me the opportunity to listen to a LOT of podcasts, and these are my regulars, culled over years of listening:
[ul]
[li]The Dice Tower. Board gaming. Just great. I love Tom Vasel.
[/li][li]Fear the Boot. Tabletop RPG. Great production, funny, fun, informative.
[/li][li]Three Die Block. Wonderful Blood Bowl podcast. I listened to every episode when I first found this.
[/li][li]Ludology. Board gaming Game theory, but fun.
[/li][li]Play Unplugged Radio. Board gaming.
[/li][li]Rovingband Of Misfits - Level Up. Board gaming. Infrequent casts.
[/li][li]The Dungeons & Dragons Podcast. Official WOTC D&D podcast. Infrequent casts.
[/li][/ul]
Many of the links above are for the RSS feed of the podcast. My routine is to subscrbe to a podcast’s RSS feed and visit my RSS reader a few times a day (for news, podcasts, etc.). I recently switched to using a Google Drive directory to save all of my podcast to. I only have to maintain this centralized cloud location to keep track of what I’ve listened to and every device gets a copy of the podcast whenever the device comes online. Works great, especially since I work and play on 5+ devices.

Out of that list, the only one I’ve liked enough to listen to more than a couple of episodes is 1UP Yours.
Idle Thumbs and Three Moves Ahead are both consistently excellent (and worth listening to the full archives on).
And if you don’t mind listening to stuff from a few years ago, GFW Radio and the original run of Retronauts are great as well.

I’m in love with Three Moves Ahead, but I’ve sadly plowed through most of the archive.
Speaking of Idle Thumbs, they also have a series of progresscast episodes where they also talk about gaming in general. Some are for backers only, and some are for anyone. A new one came out very recently. Check it out here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/idlethumbs/idle-thumbs-video-game-podcast/posts
I’ve come to rather like the Cane and Rinse podcast. It’s a UK podcast, the panelists are veteran gamers and podcasters and they usually do one game per episode but they go deep and I usually come out wanting to play whatever game they talked about. They’ve done episodes about the Metal Gear Solid series, Thatgamecompany games, Fallout 3, BF3 multiplayer and many more. I’ve been listening for 1-2 months now and also the occasional older episode.
Maybe you should go backwards from the end of the thread because podcasts get cancelled.
Also add Three Moves Ahead, Jumping The Shark and the Quarter of Three very own podcast by Tom.
Also, Rebel FM - features several ex-GFW/1Upers and while multi-format, tends to be more PC oriented than other non-specialist podcasts. Conversely, another mostly ex-GFW/1Up podcast, Geekbox, covers other nerd culture stuff as well as games.

I’d recommend the 8-4 Play podcast. Marc MacDonald is an excellent host.

Good shout. They just did a mammoth post-E3 cast.
“This year” recently put out two best-of GFW Radio 2008 episodes, which includes the part where it ended. It’s great, and brought back a lot of memories. ~9 hours well spent.

Have they given any indication as to when they’ll start doing “normal Idle Thumbs podcasts”?
Jason Wilson is one of my favorite people in the industry, and one of those copyeditors that truly loved and excelled at his job. Rowan Kaiser is fascinating and is also doing a Babylon 5 series write up over at the AV Club.
We’ll have them back, and hopefully on a show that I am on.

Possibly, but I haven’t noticed. They’re in the process of buying and setting up stuff in their new office, so it sounds like they could start properly pretty soon.
Listening to it now, and really enjoying the snark. Will subscribe. Thanks for the tip.
Jumping the Shark just isn’t as enjoyable for me anymore without Danielle. And this includes the few weeks at the end where she was technically on the show, but didn’t contribute much. The unique thing about Jumping the Shark that I felt I hadn’t heard from any other podcast I’ve tried is that the four main contributors really came together to form this cohesive whole that covered my tastes so well. Now a part of that whole is missing, and the gap in the podcast is a little irritating.
I still continue to listen, but it’s not what it used to be anymore, for me.
