You are looking in the wrong spot - they are doing it on their own time now, it’s called Crate and Crowbar and it’s still basically the same excellent 'cast.
Edit - Credit where credit is due.
But that’s for the UK one, not the US one.
Ah, I don’t listen to the US one any longer, since the guy that drove me away from GWJ started up on it. :(

Just read on Twitter that Jeff Green is on this week’s Idle Thumbs (out tomorrow). Looking forward to hearing him chat with Chris & Jake.

Yeah his tastes in games just baffle me. I am fine with people liking different things but I never understand his justifications. He loved the bi arena dlc, but hated tlou combat, wtf?

I have similar issues with Mr. Banks. His taste in games is extremely… odd. And his commentary and opinions don’t align with mine. And (up until he became an editor at PC Gamer) all he talked about was console and Mac gaming. And he sheds a really, really annoying hipster vibe. I’m sure he’s probably a great guy in person, but between his presence on GWJ and PC Gamer and Ryan Davis’ passing and the subsequent decline of the Bombcast*, I’m having a hard time finding something to give me my weekly (general) gaming podcast fix.
*I did like the recent Bombcast episode that Vinny hosted – much as I like Gerstmann, I think that he’s not the right guy to anchor the podcast.

Idle Thumbs Idle Thumbs Idle Thumbs. They generally talk about major releases, though discussion usually focuses on indie stuff or Far Cry 2. Still, a great listen and something I look forward to each week.
I had the opposite reaction to Cory Banks inclusion on the PC gamer podcast, this podcast was on low rotation because of the countless faceless interns having a more stable cast was a positive for me, but the lack of PC gamer podcast theses days is not a problem for me has I have to cut down on the number of podcast, as pointed out already Idle Thumbs remains great, QuartertoThree is also great, I would recommend Weekend confirmed and RebelFM (now that they have removed the relation advice for the most part), but Garnet Lee and Arthur Gies probably generate even more hate then Cory Banks so I guess it can’t be a universal recommendation.
I’m having a hard time finding something to give me my weekly (general) gaming podcast fix.
I think Idle Thumbs is the cream of the crop at the moment, although the Bombcast is recovering some of its stride since the loss of Ryan. Dirk and Jon of this parish’s Game Design Roundtable show is excellent for strategy gamers, as is Three Moves Ahead.
From the UK, Crate and Crowbar is as discussed great (mainly for me because I love the way Tom Francis thinks about games) and One Life Left is very fun, though it’s more icing than cake.

Idle Thumbs and Crate and Crowbar are the two gaming podcasts I listen all the way through every week. So happy that Crate and Crowbar rose from the ashes of the PC Gamer UK podcast – it might be my favorite right now. Just meaty low key game talk.
Other podcasts I subscribe to, but often skip through or skip episodes of: Giant Bomb, GWJ, Insert Credit, Indoor Kids, Not a Game Podcast, Sup Holmes, TMA, Tone Control. All of the shows will occasionally have a real stand-out episode.
For board games I’d put Shut Up and Sit Down in the top category as well.

Arthur Gies and Cory Banks are my least favourite podcast personalities. They’re both controlling and obnoxious hosts. Plus, their voices have no intonation, so listening to them is a chore.
Crate and Crowbar, QT3, Three Moves Ahead and the sporadic A Life Well Wasted are my favourites. I like Idle Thumbs apart from when they start performing some really lame riff and continue to reference it in future episodes.
If we’re including A Life Well Wasted then it wins hands down. But I think fewer than one episode a year these days is more than just sporadic.
Gies has gotten pretty insufferable recently, and it is worse every time MitchyD is there acting like his hype man, repeating everything he says and agreeing with every point he makes. I used to enjoy RebelFM but in its current incarnation there is no one there to challenge Arthur’s opinion on anything which is desperately needed at times.

I’m right there with you. I quite like Matt Chandronait and Anthony Gallegos, but Arthur and Mitch are exactly how you characterized them. Arthur is so irritable. He takes a contrary position on every topic, and when challenged to back up his claims, will obliquely allude to industry secrets so he doesn’t have to provide any specifics.

Jeff Green making the rounds first idle thumbs now bombcast /swoon
Hmm, iTunes doesn’t seem to be getting the Bombcast feed suddenly. I just refreshed and…nothing.
As far as Arthur Gies on Rebel FM, I don’t get the hate. He’s one of the more thoughtful and knowledgeable guys on game podcasts, as far as I’m concerned. His tone can come off a bit condescending, but I guess I don’t mind it because it’s clear he has a sense of humor which comes up occasionally. I couldn’t stand that other guy back when on 1Up that used to challenge him on everything, Shane Bettenhausen–he seemed to be contrary just for the fun of it.

Wow, surprising amount of dislike for Cory Banks. I don’t mind him at all on the GWJ podcast, he seems like a good fit for that group. But then, I find him earnest (like the rest of the GWJ crew) rather than “hipster,” which if I understand the term correctly, is highly affected and ironic to a fault.
Ah well, that’s what the free market is all about.

Latest bombcast one of the best IMO. Almost spit coffee twice because of lol moments.

Has anyone checked out Watch Out For Fireballs? It’s a neat retro themed podcast that revisits classic games and thoroughly examines them. I find it quite enjoyable. There’s a nice variety in their line-up (HOMM 3, Vampire Bloodlines, Sacrifice) and the hosts have a great rapport.
This week’s QT3 games podcast is a particularly good one. It points out partially why January is the month of the year in which I get more gaming done than in any other month. And Tom’s story about his attempt to play board games with strangers is fascinating. I was riveted.
