Not to make this a “let’s bitch about bombcast” thread, but Gerstman’s dislike of everything is getting pretty tiring. Within the span of a few minutes he went from “people actually like Mark Kart battle mode?” to “People actually like Smash Bros?”
It’s not just his dislike, but his faux bafflement that anyone else might possible enjoy those things.

I think the chemistry has improved a lot since Brad started hosting, which definitely qualifies as Best Surprise of 2014. Jeff trolling strangers with his apathy will never get old. Congratulations to Patrick. Though I often find his analysis half baked, I respect his effort to be eclectic and give games their “best reading.”

Vinny was a big hit to the podcast when he moved. I don’t mind a Skype podcast, myself, I think they should just get over it and starting using it more. Setup video and it’s really not that bad. Huge shows like Twit still do this all the time with guests.
Alex said that him and Vinny are going to be doing some kind of podcast to replace Patrick’s morning show at least.
Except Alex will be on it. :(
I wasn’t listening in the Ryan era and only caught a few before Vinny moved, but I still very much enjoy the Giant Bombcast. Except for the more scatological mail segments. But generally speaking I find their miscellaneous ramblings pretty funny, I think they’ve got great chemistry together, and a nice spread of tastes. It’s a little tiring when they keep coming back to console exclusives I don’t really care about (Destiny, mostly), but that’s just gonna happen on any gaming-related podcast that isn’t specifically PC-based (i.e., the Crate and Crowbar, which is fantastic for many other reasons as well). And FWIW, I pretty much never go to their site and don’t have access to any of their premium content and I’ve never felt like I needed to to enjoy the Bombcast.
You really missed GB at it’s best then. It’s not bad now, but man it used to be great.
I’d say it’s worth going back and listening to old episodes from years ago if you missed those days.
I’m hopeful for the Giant Bomb East podcast. They’re hiring a third for the New York office so hopefully it’s someone cool. I mostly want to hear more Vinny. He was always the secret best thing about Giant Bomb.
At least since he’s become host, Brad hasn’t really struck me as cynical at all. Jeff is the cynical one. Brad just inexplicably loves Destiny.

This is a general recommendation but especially applicable to Giant Bomb. The “This Year” podcast recaps are pretty excellent:

I haven’t listened to the Giant Bomb recaps yet, but I have listened to his episodes for 1Up Yours and GFW Radio and they were excellent. Well-produced and great selections from each.
I just wish these folks (UK PC Gamer magazine) would use individual mics. They sound as if they’re gathered around one table with one mic and as a result they’re all off mic. The levels are good, but they’re off mic. If you’re going to do a ‘professional’ podcast to represent a professional publication, invest in some basic equipment. Otherwise it sounds cheap and amateurish.
I’ve been working on that off and on, but there are a LOT of them and they’re really long as podcasts go, so it’s mostly been something I do over podcast games, rather than in my primary podcast listening environment (i.e. work).

This one still makes me laugh to the point I almost cry.
“You make words…FOR A LIVING!!!”
“nuh-UH!”
“Stop SAYING that!!!”
Goddamn was Ryan Davis funny.
Yeah, I miss Ryan Davis. :(

US Gamer has a podcast:
It’s a lot of the Retronauts crew but not just talking old games. Jeremy Parish, Bob Mackey, Kat Bailey, etc.

Yeah I agree. Still my favorite content-wise.
I strongly recommend Soren Johnson’s latest “Designer Notes” podcast episode – a great interview with Bruce Shelley that delves into his boardgame design years with Avalon Hill, working at Microprose with some guy named Sid, and beyond.
Good stuff Soren! (and the audio quality is top-notch, btw!)

Agreed, Soren is a very interesting listen or read on any of his design discussions. He does a great job of breaking down mechanics and design origins, while being very listenable.
