Finally got around listening to the infamous day two Giant Bombcast and was a little disappointed that it wasn’t the trainwreck that it was hyped to be. Alexander definitely talked a ton and came off as flaky for a business(?) writer, and it subsequently not as good as a normal bombcast, but nothing that would make me stop listening. Though I have a two hour commute every day that I need to fill, so I’m willing to suffer through a lot

Yeah, I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary either. Opinionated guest, news at 11.
God. Part 50 of the endurance run could be the best yet.
“Dad, he’s a demon!”
“Nanako shoots the rubber band down her throat and dies. Press X to cut up the body before Dojima gets home.”
“Yosuke, you suck. You ruin everything. … Yosuke, you’re a genius!”
I just about died when Yosuke ate the curry. One of the few times where it was the game itself cracking me up rather than the commentary.
Yeah, I love the stuff at the camp.

The latest Endurance Run is full of fail.

What does that even mean? Was it boring? Did they play poorly? The endurance run didn’t fail, YOU FAIL!

I got through the Leigh Alexander Bombcast a couple of days ago. I know I’m late to comment, but whatever. For the first 20 minutes or so I couldn’t understand why people were so irritated. And then it was as if someone told Leigh that she was going to be paid per word uttered and that she got bonus cash for higher volume. It was like she was participating in a loud/speed talking contest. That went on for 25 minutes or so and then she piped down. Not to disappoint, she eventually came surging back, with a long diatribe on the viability of virtual worlds. Her comments were interesting on that topic…the first time through. But around the fourth repetition of exactly the same points, I was ready for her to be done. Even so, I still like Leigh Alexander.
I couldn’t finish the one with Leigh Alexander. I wonder if she was drunk? I thought she made some interesting points about virtual worlds but her Sony fangirl rants were just too much. The next bombcast with the EA folks was much nicer.
She was VERY drunk. And very exhausted. And obviously doesn’t hold her liquor very well. I’m pretty sure she’s sworn off drinking and appearing in public fora at this point because she knows damn good and well that, in addition to making a right ass of herself, she’s torpedoed her credibility on a lot of subjects to a lot of people.
The one with the EA folks WAS better, though, but that’s at least in part because the guys at Giant Bomb seem to be the best in the universe at getting industry people to talk about things they probably shouldn’t. Like how Activision tried to ruin that guy’s voice. Or the entire story about why Sugar Ray was delivering pizza. And I have to respect a bunch of guys who will say, with Capcom people in the room, that a game was “like Bionic Commando, but fun” to get him to put down his emmer effing phone and pay attention. Their E3 podcasts amplified my respect for every one of those guys.
Agreed. I wish they produced something I could spend money on to support them. T-shirt, premium account, something…

They do have a growing store that has one t-shirt for sale so far. :)
I liked the one with the EA guys, though I didn’t care for the wink-wink quality of the EA dudes saying, “Hey, did anyone see those protesters against Dante’s Inferno out there? Are those guys crazy or what? Ha ha!” Eventually one of them said he thought that some of them might have been fake, but that just means he wants us to believe that some of them are real.
They need to follow the Penny Arcade formula and make a shirt for every possible catch phrase. I’d buy an ‘ON THE MOON!’ or 'I own a Wii >:( ’ shirt. I’d definitely buy a ‘Popularity is the key to intimacy’ t-shirt. Hachiwawa!
And its a awesome shirt as well. :) I will buy that then. thanks.
It got better after she left. She did make some good points now and then, but her etiquette left something to be desired.
The GiantBomb guys seems to be very friendly with a lot of industry people. I wonder if that makes it hard for them to remain objective when they review games. They’re cool with the GRIN guys, for example, which I’m sure makes it hard to bag on Terminator or Wanted too much (both got 3 stars) and they had one of the higher scoring reviews of Bionic Commando.

Actually, I think that’s their fourth or fifth shirt. They had a couple when they launched the store, but they essentially make a limited run and then move onto the next one.
Unfortunately, they no longer ship to Canada.
This endurance run gets better and better. I did a spit-take nearly dousing my computer during one of the mid-60s ones.

So when does GiantBomb turn on the ads on their site? If you go to the ‘advertise’ section, you can see what they’re planning on doing. It’s going to decrease my enjoyment of the site a lot, because they’re offering the huge IGN/Gamespot style ads.
