I never knew Jon had it in him. Jon, I’m officially retiring the ‘ripped off Cowboy Bebop’ burn. You’re officially too scary for that one!
Anyway, I think what he was mostly saying, and I agree, is that we’re enjoying the Endurance Run. A lot. There’s just that armchair coaching going on like when you’re watching your favorite team and the coach makes a call you really disagree with. I still love 'em, but dude, what the hell?!

Exactly
Like in the midboss fight, them using Maragion instead of Bufula…
THEY HAVE ICE BOOST!! ICE DOES MORE DAMAGE!
I hate the multi-quotes, I really do.

I never said that you hated the endurance run or whatever. Don’t know how you came to that conclusion, and I definitely don’t understand the, uh, outburst.
My point was that getting angry over nitpicks is silly, especially once you understand that they aren’t playing the game like most people would, they’re unfamiliar with both the genre and the series, they have to make it interesting, and they are under more scrutiny than almost anyone else who has ever played the game.
In yesterday’s episode (91,where they fought the void quest boss) will do a lot to relieve some of the frustration Persona fans are having, I think. Except with the armor bit at the beginning, but that was hilarious.
Going back to a previous episode, I’m really surprised the game lets an enemy successfully cast Hama on the main character, bringing up a Game Over Screen. I think if I lost an hour of work because of that, I’d never play the game again. But then again, I’m a pussy who never beat Persona 3, much less Nocturne.

That’s a big reason why I never played Persona 3 or 4 on a difficulty other than Easy, where you get ten items that automatically revive you if you die). I hate automatic deaths like that, but I’m also a huge pansy.

Then wouldn’t it be even more ridiculous to multi-quote my nit-picks with your own personal rebuttals?
Nit-picking my nit-picking?
Seriously. I am not a fan of people that make an argument out of a non-argument. Sorry I went all Hiroshima on you with my comments, but it is over. I will continue to be angry about how they do stupid stuff when they play, but that is because I guess I am an Armchair-quarterback kind of guy.
I am glad they are getting better, but they still make a lot of rookie mistakes.
And a lot of the stuff isn’t even their fault. The game is straight up unfair and punishing at times. Seriously, a random chance enemy that can instant kill you? Or a group of 5 enemies that all have attacks that hit everyone for 1/3 of their health? I am a huge pansy when it comes to games, and I know for sure once I start up Persona 3, I will be rocking easy mode.
There was some incredibly juvenile and tasteless shit-talking going on between Tyler and Anthony towards the end of RebelFM this week.
I laughed really hard.
Also this week, the Squadron of Shame covered Tales of Game’s Studios Presents Chef Boyardee’s Barkley, Shut Up & Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa, which, if you haven’t played, is quite humorous. The podcast itself is a little disjointed, with lots of “you had to be there” moments, but the game is definitely worth checking out.
I have to admit that I did, too. But not because of the scatological nature of the stories, but simply the fact that the stories just kept coming. They seemed a limitless fount of poop stories.
Is RebelFM worth listening to on a consistent basis again?
It’s okay. I don’t actually care much for Tyler. He reminds me of Darren Gladstone in all the worst ways. Guy’s never met a silence he didn’t feel needed to be filled with blather.
For me, it’s the most entertaining when they’re not having a serious gaming discussion. I really couldn’t care less if they liked Prototype more than inFamous (or whatever), but that is usually the focus of the show. I find the Letters section the most entertaining part, where there are many instances of off-topic tangents. This also usually applies when a they have a guest like Robert Ashley or Kathleen and Jane whom derail the podcast in the most entertaining way.
So, uh…I guess that’s a no?
Thanks. Sounded like not. Those guest casts were great, but they were months ago (when I still listened, heh).
On a brighter note, everyone should listen to last week’s Three Red Lights podcast (IGN’s Xbox cast) to hear Jason Ocampo’s TERRIBLE attempt at a British accent. I was walking home as I listened and burst into laughter on the street.
You know, maybe I’m weird, but I think a lot of you are getting way too high brow about the whole podcast thing. I mean, it’s a freaking PODCAST, not Broadway theatre or a performance by some world class orchestra. It’s a couple of dudes in a basement somewhere with whatever recording equipment they managed to scrape together, talking about games. They’re not professional broadcasters, they all have day jobs, and I’m sure they don’t spend tons of time obsessing over every little detail like many of the fans seem to.
I just really don’t understand why some people feel the need to nitpick and tear apart so many of the podcasts. “I don’t like this person because (insert asinine comment here)”. Sure, disagree with their opinions, that’s what opinions are for, right? But I see all sorts of comments about how some podcasts are immature, or talk about inappropriate subjects, etc. This isn’t PBS folks, again, they’re PODCASTS. Don’t be surprised to hear a bunch of dick jokes coming from a group of 20 somethings. That’s what 20 somethings do. Don’t be shocked and offended when they go off topic, trash talk each other, or rant about something. Again, it all comes with the territory. You should know that going in, and not be surprised when you encounter it.
I dunno, I guess my point is: Why can’t you guys just enjoy the podcasts and relax? Stop trying to critique every last little element.
Take every instance of the word ‘podcast’ in your post and replace it with ‘forum post on the internet’ and then redirect the whole thing back at you.
Of course we critique things. We’re yentas. It’s what we do.
I’m not sure how commenting on podcasts and the people involved in said podcasts is any different than commenting/critiquing anything else. If you don’t want to talk about positive and negative aspects of podcasts, just don’t read this thread. I’m a little mystified by your whole post to be perfectly honest. I mean, are you really advocating that people on a video game message board refrain from discussion about video game podcasts?

Dude, let it go. Not a funny joke anymore.
No, it’s more the whole “Kathy Lee Gifford” reaction that some of you seem to be having to them. OH MY GOD A MAN SAID THE WORD PENIS ON THAT PODCAST! GASP! IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!
You’re making it sound like they’re supposed to be some kinda high falutin’, high brow, super intellectual discussions. They’re just some guys shooting the shit about video games.
