I’m thinking of reviving the Qt3 Madden fantasy league, but we need to know how much interest there would be.
A fantasy league starts off with a huge draft where you select players for your team from the entire pool of NFL players.
The league would have http://www.myleaguemanager.net integration so there would be a salary cap, free agent bidding, contracts, deep stat tracking, etc…
This league would complement, not compete, with the regular Madden 11 league run by Mightynute, so I would participate in both leagues and I would hope everyone could. So, what do you think?
One of the obvious issues is that it is pretty late in the season, so we’d only get about 1-1.5 seasons in before Madden 12 comes out. Then again, if Madden 12 doesn’t change or add features to online franchise, it might still be worth it to continue the Madden 11 fantasy league and let the regular league move on to Madden 12.
A perk to starting this late in the season though is that in a week EA will release the last roster update so the players would be all up-to-date.
Anyway, just answer in the poll and discuss below
The best part of the fantasy league is the fantasy draft, but judging from the last one we tried, the actual league play left a lot to be desired.
How so, Omniscia? I remember the Madden 10 league ran for a long time, but I wasn’t in it.
It was at times exceedingly difficult to schedule games, in part because we had a lot of people who didn’t actually want to participate in the forum community and thus were difficult to contact.
Like this guy:
Weird. I wonder why those people don’t show up in the regular league for the most part. The couple that have weren’t around very long.
Oh, if you guys are curious about MyLeagueManager, check out the demo league: http://www.myleaguemanager.net/portal.cfm?CFID=9698571&CFTOKEN=33680795
It is pretty amazing what this guy has put together. It shames EA’s official site.
That looks really, really cool. But I don’t think I could do it with all those fancy options: a salary cap, free agent bidding, contracts
BTW, has anyone heard anything about Madden 12 features? I sure wish they’d re-do the whole animation system.
Cool! Since it is a fantasy league, we could do our best to group owners into the same divisions. We wouldn’t need that many owners to have fun, maybe 7-10 at the least?
It can be pretty flexible.

I’m actually a “maybe” even though I voted “no”.
That’s definitely the way to go – I’d say have the Commish assign teams/divisions (say, decide which slots we’re going to use, then assign owners to those teams randomly, or something).
So lets say there are 6-8 human owners, split between two divisions. Would it be better to have one of them be a NFC division and one be an AFC division? There would be less human competition, but a human-human Super Bowl would be guaranteed.
My first five games in the main league are against the AI, so I’m now definitely interested in doing a second league.
I really like the idea of having everyone in one conference if we’re going to have 10 or less teams. Super Bowl Shmuper Bowl!
Good point. The playoffs would be better if everyone would be in the same conference. Getting to the SB would be the prize.
I had a blast with the draft and the regular season last time around. Unfortunately, the Madden 10 fantasy Super Bowl is yet to be played. Talk about ending with a dud.
Yikes. Who was the Super Bowl between?
Ok, so it looks like (assuming jpinard’s maybe means yes) we have 6 people interested. If we can get at least 1 or 2 more people, I think this fantasy league would be in a really good spot to give it a go. Two full divisions.
I’d like to start it in a week or two, whenever EA releases the last roster update for offline and online franchise.
Me and someone who never showed up. I forget who.
