I think Brick kind of got screwed on the skill tree. Rockets in this game kind of suck, so that tree is kind of a wash. Then in his other two trees some his highest level skills are just slightly better variants of skills that the other characters get in their 2nd or 3rd tier. He seems the one most in need of some love.

Co-oping with a friend last night. I’m soldier; he’s the Siren. We’re at level 30-something. I’ve been carrying the same bloody rifle since at least level 20. It does 111 damage with insane clipsize. It’s the Swiss-Army-Knife of rifles for me…it does everything; accurate, hard-hitting, good clip. My Siren buddy complains that by the time he moves in for the kill I’ve rifled everything dead!

Last night I came across an “interesting” SMG. It shoots four bullets at once with 90-something damage to boot. The bloody thing cost $380K! Since my rifle does “everything”, I ever so generously gave it to Lilith.

wow
Just wow

I should have checked the stats more carefully. 90+ damage, 40+ clip, FOUR BULLETS PER SHOT? If I remember it even has explosive damage! I don’t even get the rifle unlimbered before Siren-babe has cleared the nest of enemies.

That is one bad-ass SMG.

Double Anarchy… totally OP ;)

OP until you compare one to a double thanatos repeater for a gunslinger Mordecai.

Sirens and Hunters are currently the kill kings of Borderland with poor Roland and Brick a pretty distant 3rd and 4th.

Does anyone have that co-op achievement? I would like to get that one. (The viral one, about playing with someone who played with an employee)

Thanks

I think I have this.

The trouble with double anarchies and the like is that their accuracy usually sucks. Often the RoF takes a hit as well.

I couldn’t use my current Siren with anything less than 12 RoF and 75% accuracy - the stream of headshots is just delicious.

Chained headshots are really the only answer to enemies with loads of health. Yes, I’m looking at you BadMuthas.

I’ve played a Brick now to about 42 and I’m about to head to the safehouse in playthrough 2. At this point, I’ve just about given up on the left hand side of the skill tree and respeced for the right. As lackluster as it is, it is still better. At this point, if my shields go down (~1200 pts) I can’t charge up to a guy before he takes me to zero health (again ~ 1200). I’m going to experiment with the Sting like a bee skill, but it seems like the push back on some of the weapons (combat rifles esp) just negates the run in and melee tactic entirely.

I’ve really had fun playing the Brick and for the first 2/3s of the game, he was a blender on roids whenever I kicked off his special…which was alot. Just a shame to see it marginalized…since I love that crazy scream:)

The key to a melee Brick is actually the middle tree and “diehard” in particular. You basically have to abuse the second wind mechanic. Other than enemies hiding behind cover a diehard Brick can kill anything in the amount of time that the skill buys.

Brick isn’t about not dying, it’s about coming back with second wind, several times in one fight.

Yeah, that is a good point…although it bugs the heck out of me that his rage ends when you enter second wind…I just felt like I kept screwing up every time I went down in a fight.

I do - “Lord Polish” on XBL. I’ll actually be playing a bit tonight so if you want to pop on and grab it send me a friend invite.

I haven’t played with Brick but similarly I find it annoying that the Soldier’s turret disappears the moment you go down (before second wind). I guess it’s for balance, but they could just have had the turret’s kills not count towards second win. It’s not like the turret lasts for that long anyway, which makes it frustrating losing it seconds after it goes up.

This doesn’t really have to do with anything other than the Second Wind mention made me think of it. I think the worst death I had was when I had taken out nearly everyone in one of the Safehouse rooms and barely ducked back behind a corner at like 25 health. A nearly dead midget shotgunner stepped around, shot me, and ran the hell away. That little fucker.

It was on the trip back out when the shock-armed badass bruiser spawns, or at least has the three times I’ve played the Safehouse.

PC update is out (retail only):

Unless that fix list is incomplete, it’s sad to see that even with all that time they couldn’t implement some of the basic .ini based fixes that the community has come up with. Things as challenging as skippable intros, v-sync, FOV, etc.

Worse of all, the game apparently adopts (permanently) certain files from a game host. So, if you play with a hacking host, some of those will infect your game (e.g., inventory size hacks). This issue needs a hotfix, ASAP.

That’s a pretty short list of fixes. The game went gold five weeks ago…

Apparently, it doesn’t even address the major hurdle to multiplayer on PC for most users, which will have to wait until the next patch.

Gearbox’s statements about how DLC development not effecting patch time is starting to really ring false. They’ll have DLC for consoles out on the 24th. I’m guessing the next PC patch will be a long time after.

The lack of fixing the multiplayer issues is a real bummer.

It’s a pathetic attempt to quell the whiny PC bitches. I mean, sh%$, it would take all of an hour or two to implement the major INI tweaks into the options menus. Basically, everybody’s too busy working on the xpack to bother with this piddly crap but at the very least they should have fixed the MP issues.
