Boo.

I’ve reformatted since I last played, so Borderlands needs to reactivate. Except it can’t right now, Steam comes back and says “This game is currently unavailable, please try again another time”

The Siren’s power is generally acknowledged as the most powerful special ability. You don’t have to put points in phasewalk for it to save your ass. The bloodwing however is generally useless without a lot spec points invested into the middle tree thus limiting your other options. FWIW, I think the hunter is not underpowered and is more fun to play.

My Siren is death incarnate with an easy escape and heal button that never fails. You know, the escape button for those rare times I can’t mow everything down before it gets a chance to damage me with my double anarchy(+45% fire rate from skills with mod bonus in addition to the +60% smg damage and +30 smg ammo regeneration from the mod).

I am eagerly awaiting the mid-October level cap and rebalancing. The game gets too easy later on if you play any of the DLC. It always seems like I am overleveled.

Early game I’d give the crown to the Soldier’s Turret. Midgame, it is pretty even between the turret and the berzerker. Late game, Bloodwing rules all. I am not at all enamored with phase walk. Just doesn’t do it for me.

It may have been linked already but OMG I MUST HAVE ONE!!!11

Think I built a similar Siren to you - I skipped the phasewalk and melee skills and went for the ones that would improve guns. I have the same Mercenary mod as you too, though I didn’t get the ammo regen version until Knoxx, so I was using one with a higher elemental effect chance up until then. I also found that playing Borderlands->Ned->Knoxx overlevelled me, and I finished Knoxx on playthrough 1 at lvl 43.

That looks awesome. I love the claptraps. I like how it’s been done with a cel-shading effect.

I complained loudly and often about the pricing policy of Borderlands and its DLC in Australia. So I have to give them credit for this one. The latest DLC costs $10 in Australia, same as the US. Thanks guys.

I picked up the DLC on steam last night even though I haven’t gone through knoxx yet. I’m playing my soldier and by doing the Zombie Island DLC I vastly out-leveled the area I’m in storywise(Krom’s Canyon). He’s almost the same level my hunter was when I finished the game my first time (no dlc). If I wasn’t such a completist I’d skip all these bounty board quests and just move on to finish up then hit knoxx.

But the claptrap, it calls to me! “There are new quests at the such and such bounty board!” and I must obey.

I’m doing the Zombie Island DLC, and absolutely loving it. I then have Knoxx to do, and now Claptrap. I’m good for a few weeks at least!

can anyone tell me if the Claptrap DLC has more than 1 fast travel location ? :p

I just got my soldier up to level 61 and figured I’d give Crawmerax a go and pretty much had my ass handed to me repeatedly with ease. Do I suck, or is that boss pretty much unbeatable by a solo soldier character?

I haven’t tried it, but from what I’ve read it’s really intended to for a group of level 61s.

It’s tough as hell with any character except Siren, who can kite / heal with ease.

It’s a lot easier with a group than with one. I’ve only managed to beat him with a Siren and the Mordecai and the Mordecai was mostly luck (if you can get about 2 dozen second winds)…basically the trick is to kill only the larva that die with fire and shock, as the one that dies with ooze is slow and you can kite them around. Then it’s a matter of 2nd winding when crawmerax does get you and just keep running around.

I’ve seen one video of a soldier who was able to get Crawmerax, but when I tried it with my level 61 I gave up quickly.

Are you on PC? I’d be willing to give it a go again. It’s been a while and a group using team advantages really really helps. Although it’s no guarantee.

Yeah, I’m on the PC and would be willing to try multiplayer. I’m “Shadari” on Steam, if you wanna try sometime…

Your memories of this event are vastly different than mine…

you should come help us! I recall your siren dying a lot, but I was talking of me getting crawmerax with my siren ;-)

I remember it taking both of us a good 5 or 6 tries (or was it 15 or 16 tries) to beat ole crawmerax.

This is what I want to know too!

There was certainly a 5 or 6 in there someplace, though it may have just been the first digit, i cant quite recall…

sadly the reviews for this DLC have not been great , I think I will wait for a steam sale.

the only DLC I really liked was the zombie one.

Regarding Crawmerax, there is a pretty widely known exploit that you can use to solo him.
