Buy Borderlands GOTY edition on 10/12 and you get the Duke Nukem Forever Beta (demo?) free!

So, $50 PC, or $60 consoles for the GOTY Borderlands pack. Seems like a good deal even without the DNF demo.
It takes a startling ignorance to put the words “Duke Nukem Forever” and “Early” next to each other.

They’re trolling, right? I mean, it makes sense considering Pitchford’s PR for the game thus far.
I started it up the other night and then shut it down as soon as I saw that the first mission would be yet another scavenger hunt. Seriously - think of something new, Gearbox.
I too enjoyed the zombie one, but the General Knoxx one or whatever it was called was infuriating.
I liked Knoxx, but I got really annoyed with the lack of teleporters in the maps at the end of the highways. Too much traipsing about, creating a problem the original game solved with the bloody teleporters!

Crawmerax is farmable. I know, because I did with a group of randoms in a pub.
Recently I have tried to get again into Borderlands. The good news is that theres still people starting characters. But I don’t “get it”… I can’t understand the game now. Maybe I was too used to my high level siren character, or something. I deleted all my old characters, and I mourn his lost.
The new DLC’s don’t seems to have enough fast travel options, or sell stations. I filled my (very small) inventory with vendor trash, and the walk to the weapons stations is very long. On the other part, I joined the area as a level 6 character and the mobs where level 10, so seems the scaling works this time.

I have played the other characters, but the siren (Lilith) works better for my playstile.

What he’s trying to say is that the Siren is a chick, so “his” doesn’t work.
Completely random question, Tei - did you ever do any coding for a Quakeworld client?

Only played the original borderlands up to around level 30 when things startd getting a bit samey and boring.
Would it be worth it to get the borderlands goty version? I really liked the base game, but it got a tad boring.
If so on what platform? PC/ PS3 or Xbox?

Yea, I did some particle effect for ezQuake.
Maybe you hate me because I overheated one of your graphic cards?

I don’t hate you, I just hate the lack self-control in your posts that see you post whatever nonsense pops into your head. The fact that’s mostly incoherent doesn’t help.
However, I asked because I was reading a few QW forums last night and “Tei” had posted a couple of times. Was just curious.
I heard anecdotally that the GOTY edition doesn’t have the DLC on the disc; rather, there are download vouchers in the box. (Which didn’t work for my anecdotal source.) I could see that for 360, but surely they could fit all that content onto a Blu-Ray?
More importantly – does anyone know if the rebalancing / extra levels patch hit today?

There’s no patch on Steam yet but I still have my fingers crossed for later in the day. I really want to play through everything with a Siren or Brick, but I’ve been waiting for the balance patch so I don’t out-level everything.

If you bought Borderlands on Steam you should have a new folder in:
Steam\steamapps\common\borderlands\
called “PandoraMap”. It contains a nifty little map of the world.
Oh, and it looks like everyone has the DNF early access now? Right-click Borderlands in Steam and select Properties. Click on the DLC tab.
Ok, and I see when you launch the game it shows you a code also…now call me crazy, but I have no idea what to do with this code (haven’t been keeping up with the Duke Nukem stuff). At this point I just copied the key to a text file for later use, and assume that some day it’ll mean I can play the Duke Nukem Forever demo early (if I actually care to bother).
Woooo!..I think.
From Steam news:
As expected, the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition will include the all four downloadable episodes from the “extravasplosive Borderlands catalog,” but will also come with a “free membership certificate for the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club.” In addition to the playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever, the First Access Club membership will also give players access to an as-of-yet-undisclosed “wealth of goodies.”

You know what would be cool? Unlockable Duke Nukem to play in Borderlands with his own skill tree. That would be a cool cross over. Duke is cartoonish enough to credibly make the transition. I’m talking about the character, not the assets of course.
2k is the publisher of both games as well. ;)

Ok, cool, you can go here: http://www.dukenukem.com/access/
And enter the key Steam provided you with. It looks like the demo isn’t available yet, just a couple wallpapers if you’re into that.
Per an official announcement on the Gearbox forums, the balancing patch is in the final stages of QA. So we could still be a few weeks out. I guess the “same day release as the GOTY edition” thing was just an assumption someone made somewhere.
