You are definitely getting there, but there is still a bit to go.

They announced the notes for the big patch today. The part I find confusing is that it looks like they’re enabling level scaling for anyone who’s beaten the game… twice. Argh. I stopped second playthrough because I’m way overlevelled (did every side quest in playthrough #1 and it’s incredibly boring. I guess I should go blast through the main quest a second time and ignore side quests? That’s lame.

Yeah, the scaling stuff has been known since early this month. Doesn’t make any sense, but whatever, it’s better than nothing.

The only new information is that the patch will be ready “within 2 weeks”. Kind of odd since they’ve been saying all along the patch would be out in October, including a post they made about a week ago. Must’ve found something nasty during certification.

I kinda doubt it. MS has been super swamped with cert lately so I suspect they just lowered the priority of anything that wasn’t paid DLC or a retail title. Lots of stuff (Monday night combat) has had delayed title updates recently

I just love the fact that they raise level cap like a snap of fingers. So I should just throw away my hard earned lvl 61 pearlescent weapons because they ain’t lvl 69?

No, keep them till you find something better. They’ll probably be better than 99% of level 69 guns anyway.

Where will go Borderlands now?

I vote for a new DLC where you loot a underground valult with the offices of the corporations, and use it to place office chairs and the like. Maybe have new mobs that looks like cubicle dwellers. Make so the whole vault is office-home for the corporates, and you have to clean your way till the Boss, that is actually the Boss of some corporation. Can have Mini-Boss that are actually midlevel office boss.
…imagine the intro scene for these boss “Mini-Boss (actually not your boss)”.

Indeed. Where WILL go Borderlands?

This is probably it for Borderlands 1. Gearbox is busy on Duke nukem forever, and based on how well Borderlands has done with it’s long tail I’m sure they’re at least starting on the sequel. It’s been a good year+ of support

Borderlands is now on Xbox Live Games on Demand for $29.99 cash. I was gonna hold out for the GOTY edition but I figured I’d just get it now and add the DLC when they go on sale cheap.

I lost my maxed out hunter when it crashed on my PC, so might play some on XBL as co-op…

So at what point in the core game do people suggest doing the DLC, if waiting until the end means the DLC becomes trivial?

Yeah, that bummed me out too. I thought they were finally fixing how broken the “Level ranges” were with DLC factored in, but that’s apparently not the case. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick I guess but I would have been happier with no level increase and making the DLC fit into the level ranges of playthrough 1 and 2 main quest.

On the other hand, I guess I don’t really need to wait for the patch if I want to start a new character since it won’t really do anything for 'em.

1.41 patch is out.

The patch is available on PC and PS3, but not XB360. More details and impressions:

That’s great news. They were saying it could take up to two weeks.

Is that play through 1/2 with the same character or can I have played through once each with 2 characters?

So when it autoscales stuff, how does it determine what it autoscales to? My biggest problem with my first play through was that it was always too easy. The most fun my buddy and I had was when we bought the zombie DLC and ended up being under leveled for it, and having a blast running from zombies that could kill us very quickly and easily if they got close. But on the other hand, playing the Knoxx area, we were just a bit too below the level of the bad guys, and doing pathetically low damage to the point where we couldn’t hurt them, and died repeatedly over and over.

Ideally, it would follow how often the PCs were dying, and scale content up or down based on that, rather than having the game always scale to be a cakewalk.

I thought there was also supposed to be a “balance fix” or something as well. Looking around for patch notes now.

I’m up for another pass through with the new patch. I have all the DLC’s (Moxxi’s is not really worth replaying though IMO).

I’d like to get 3 others to maybe do a weekly night where we play together - Say thursday nights. I’ve got a teamspeak server available we can use.

This would be for Pacific time - say 9pm - whenever we decide to quit.

Anyone interested?

I could definitely be up for something like that.
