I think the scaling only kicks in after the second playthrough when you’re basically top level. Then all the enemies are set to your level so you have a better chance at the highest level loot through the whole playthrough. I’m still working on my first knoxx so I’m not there yet though cant say for sure. Thats just what one of the write ups said.

I’ve had this fucking thing sitting in a box, staring at me for a year. I gave up on singleplayer for being dull, but multi might be good. So yeah, I’d be in. I should note that I don’t have the DLC and don’t plan on getting it. Maybe if it turns out that I <3 multiplayer sessions.

If the single player doesn’t grab you I don’t know if the multiplayer will except for certain scenarios/quests like Island of Dr. Ned.

I played with the XB360 patch last night, and I’m still not entirely sure how the scaling works:

  • My Lvl 61 Siren is on Playthrough 2, but hasn’t finished it. She’s finished 3 of the 4 DLC’s, and started “Claptrap” fresh last night.
  • My unfinished leftover Knoxx sidequests are now scaled up to Level 62.
  • The Claptrap DLC quests are scaled to Level 61.
  • The remaining quests from vanilla, Dr. Ned, and Mad Moxxi are not scaled; they are all hovering around levels 40-50.

I suspect it’s not until I finish Playthrough 2 that EVERYTHING will be scaled up, but at least the bulk of the content I want to play right now is level appropriate.

Man I like the game but I’ve done the early game stuff way too much. I did playthrough 1+2 on xbox with a siren, then got it on steam because it was so cheap and have done playthrough 1+2 on siren as well as soldier.

good games. Pyrhic didn’t show. FYI - we are at about level 25, we just completed the Crazy Earl quests and stopped for the night.

Just an observation, but soldier COMs were the obvious majority in the red boxes, with Siren dropping a close 2nd. I think I picked up 3 COMs all night for my hunter. The best gun I got I bought out of a store! (a lvl 22 7x102 masher!).

Pyrhic was at a hockey game (Sharks?) and thus came home late absolutely hammered, hence the no show ;)

Had loads of fun last night, it also helps that Tman knows where every god damn thing is in this game :)

The patch that levels the chars is working really nice. I’m also happy to report that the top level of the Knox armory is now all higher level gun crates and not the lousy level 40’s.

I’m also seeing a lot more elemental drops against the various bad asses which is nice. You don’t have to farm to get them.

I still think it’s too easy to out level the game in the early levels by doing all the side quests. The problem is I need to get the backpack upgrades.

I did do an experiment - once I got to new haven, I didn’t turn in any of my quests - I’d do them, but not turn them in. By the time I got to the vault, I must have had 20 of them queued up to turn in. When I finally did, it took me from lvl 53 to lvl 55. So that is not a bad way to go, do some of the side quests, but don’t turn them in to keep you lower.

I finally booted up my Steam copy of this the other night that I purchased some time this summer.

Why does it use Gamespy for multi? I mean I remembered my user account and password thankfully, but who still uses Gamespy in this day and age?
