At least 60 pages of this thread are people (including myself) questioning the retarded decision to use GameSpy for multi.
Gearbox does apparently. But yeah, I know what you mean.
Oh and yes, it leveled Crawmerax too.

Yes, and we’re reminded even when playing single player
“Your connection to Gamespy has been lost. Do you want to reconnect? (Y/N)”
I’m on playthrough 2.5 and getting my ass completely handed to me by the last boss of the Claptrap DLC. IIRC, I’m a level 67 Siren and the boss is level 69. Is it capped at 69 or will it always scale to be two levels higher than me?

Well that’s what I get for being late to the party.
FWIW, you don’t need GSpy for SP or LAN play; I’ve never needed to log in for either.

Well, FWIW, it’s up in the air as to whether or not it’s GameSpy that is the issue, or borderlands’ unbelievably crappy internet multiplayer setup. There’s enough blame to go around.

I found an orange alien gun. First ever. They’ve always been (and since for that matter), green.
I wonder if I can trade it to someone for something?

got a screenshot? So far I’ve never found one worth using other than messing around with.

Here’s the cannon:

Another thing I’ve never seen is this sniper mod for the siren:

The specter mod drops from the lance assassins trying to kill you in General Knoxx.
They don’t look like a good fit for the Siren unless I am missing something. I thought Siren powers benefited most from high rate of fire weapons such as SMGs and assault rifles.
Generally that’s true, but I suppose you could make a Siren spec that was built around melee for close range and sniping for long-distance.
The alien cannons tend to be somewhat useless regardless of their stats. Like rocket launchers, they have limited use because of the slow travel rate of the projectile. Unlike rocket launchers, you can’t really spam shots because of the “energy instead of ammunition” mechanic of alien weapons, and just as importantly, there’s no elemental effect. Having an elemental effect beyond the default “explosive” on a rocket launcher can make it a lot more effective, particularly Fire.
I have built a siren around snipers, I think it’s actually the best character in the game to play as a sniper, if you get your ‘vanish’ cooldown low enough, you can really have some fun dropping agro after each couple of kills.
The only character in the game that can actually stay at range using snipers.
That makes sense. Might have to try it some time.

totally agree. I avoid them like the plague. I was just commenting that I’d never seen anything but a green alien weapon until I got this orange one. It’s more from a collectors perspective than a useful perspective.

It’s listed as a DLC3 eridian weapon, so I guess it was something added in Knoxx. I haven’t seen any orange alien guns yet either and I’ve run through the game 4 times (Playthroughs 1 and 2 on 2 characters) thus far. Haven’t played Robot Revolution yet, might bite the bullet and buy it full price if Steam doesn’t do a Thanksgiving sale or Borderlands DLC doesn’t show up as part of it.

McKnight - missed you, but here is the info to catch up:
We went through the first part of Jaynistown - killed the first brother and have just spoke to Erik Franks back in New Haven, where we stopped for the night. We’re level 30.
I’m not sure about next Thursday. That’s thanksgiving. I might be able to do it, but would have to be later - at least 10pm pacific.
I still haven’t tried this out in co-op yet. Any PC version East Coasters feel like starting up a weekly group to go from the ground up?
