I just really can’t get a feel for the rockets in this game.

This game (despite its problems on the PC) just rocks. I knew I was right to be salivating over it since that PC Gamer preview a few months back.

I use rockets for “Badass” bruiser enemy types. So pretty much anything that’s got a lot of hit points gets at least a few rockets from me. I beat Skagzilla entirely with my rocket launcher.

not sure why but fire does more damage for me compare to corrosive as a siren, even vs heavy armored foe like crimson lance, you can just kill them by fire.

I think Elec is weak overall but good vs those guardian type you face at end, but electricity have the best death animation. mob’s skull explodes!!!

I’m still not clear on the Weapon Proficiencies. What do they do? How high can they go?

Well, you may want to go back to that area so that you can find a corrosive triple rocket launcher. Check the item shops there, or in New Haven. You’re definitely going to want one for the New Haven areas, or a high damage corrosive weapon of some sort. Sticky corrosive grenades may also work.

No idea on how high (I’m guessing 10), but I think they increase your damage and fire rate, maybe accuracy too.

My class mod, Assassin for Hunter, does +33% Corrosive damage but I still haven’t found a gun that does it. Just bad luck I guess. However I did find a Purple grenade mod that does Corrosive. It launches up, higher than the Bouncing Betty, and sprays everyone in a big radius. Doesn’t seem to do huge damage even with my mod so I’m not sure they work together. But it does make everything there quite squishy…

BTW, you can now get the manual from the game’s page on Steam, but if you’re a Firefox user, do a save link as from the game’s web page. Apparently whoever runs Steam still thinks everyone uses IE.

They can go to 50 and are make you better all around at using that weapon type. They go up as you use them.

50!!! Jesus, I think I have one on skill 9 at level 22 or so.

It’s a little embarrassing but at level 37 on my soldier it only now just clicked in my head that the ammo regen mod operates independently from my turret. Good thing, too, because I can’t find a good combat rifle to save my life and that support gunner mod makes my only good weapon (orange shotgun!) much more viable.

I can’t believe I spent most of the 1st playthrough wed to the ammo machine :(

I love playing soldier or just having a soldier on the team due to ammo regen mod, I realized last night that apparently siren can get SMG ammo regen mods which is pretty awesome.

saw one that +8 SMG ammo.

Do you guys really think the turret’s ammo/health regen makes a difference? The turret only lasts so long and it’s so slow to regen I can’t see how you’d make it worth it unless you poured 10 points into it. And I can think of way better things to use 10 points on.

Yeah, I think I just got an achievement for going over 10 with a combat rifle.

Completely agree. I mentioned a few pages ago that I thought putting points into turret skills was a bit of a waste because I just don’t use it very much. It’s good for a boss encounter or a particularly large mob, but for the most part I’d rather pack the points into skills that I’m going to use on a moment-to-moment basis.

I used that spec when I beat the game. Cauterize is pretty useful, but I was playing with a brick, their berserk is so overpowering it was kind of pointless to use it.

I used the guided missile, it’s very powerful, but only problem is that it only fires 2-3 shots per turret, but 1 shot did about 2/3 bruiser’s health.

Also if you go to the first tab in the character screen and mouse over the proficiency it will tell you specifically what it’s current modifiers are.

I only have two points in Refire (shooting an enemy reduces the cooldown of the turret by 1/2/3/4/5 seconds, can only happen once every 2 seconds) but I already am noticing a significantly shorter cooldown. If you drop it at the beginning of combat it should be recharged when you have a couple enemeies left and need a health boost, and I’ve had boss fights where I used it 3 times.

For reference I plan on going with this build with the last five points probably in assault unless I find an amazing SMG.

From looking at this more, Borderlands seems very punk and not just in the outfits. There’s lots of games that grib punk aesthetics, but from the videos it feels punk. Everything from the naming conventions to the garish cartoony style screams punk. Even the FOV is in your face. =P
