Yeah, I think it is the effects of the ‘killer shot’ skill - just built into the gun itself.

I can attest to the ridiculousness of Phydeaux’s rocket launcher. Shit just dies.

Lowest level player should host.

That way, he chooses the active mission and the mobs are related to that. Multiplayer then makes it tough: more mobs and each mob is tougher. Thus, a low level guy joining playing multiplayer with a host several levels higher is asking for trouble, and that trouble gets greater with each extra player.

The lower level guys will quickly gain ground on the higher level players. Some friends and I did this the other night with one 11 and two 15s. In about an hour, the 11 got to 15 and the 15s got to 16.

Re: burst fire. (A friend at Gearbox clarified this for me).

Burst fire is consecutive rounds that will be fired from your magazine. This is +#00% in the details.

The flashing x# indicates that for every round coming out of your magazine, the given # will be fired. For example: a shotgun with 5 shells but 10/x7 flashing, means that every time you fire a round, 7 projectiles (pellets) will be fired, each doing 10 damage (if they all hit, which is why even weakish shotguns at point blank and de-torsify bandits).

Now, if I can find a burst firing shotgun with ammo regen that uses rockets…

Boomstick, sans ammo regen is what you’re looking for.

I have Sniper Rifles that just laugh at those rocket launches. I have one that has x4 Fire Elemental with an added Extremely High Chance for Element, over 400 damage per shot, with 3 shots, but with my perks it is up to 5 or 8 depending on my class mods. When it hits someone its like a small nuclear blast on their face and they catch fire. Over 3k Critical damage, they burn to death soon after being shot, no matter what enemy they are.

Ideally, there should be a way within the game to save your character at a bunch of different levels. That way, you could just pick whichever was convenient.

Ideally, there should be a way within the game to do a lot of things that Gearbox didn’t think about while constructing a beautiful artistic post-apocalyptic fantasy world.

Which zone is that?

I just found an elemental shooter with a sick firing rate. Ticking down -60 worth of DoT fire damage for each shot, and it empties its clip in a couple of seconds. But it has all the same numbers as my other repeater, which ticks for 38 damage at a time. It looks like the numbers listed on the weapon don’t mean much, or that firing rate also multiplies elemental damage for this pistol.

There’s a lot of cool scenery in the game. Seeing towering factory structures spewing smoke in the distance with huge industrial trash piles everywhere was probably the highlight.

I think the game looks fantastic.

You sure there aren’t modifiers pushed off the bottom of the weapon card?

if the elemental effect triggers multiple times, the dot damage stacks. it will just display bigger numbers. In this case it looks like you had double application.

Woah just got a game update. Straaaaange.

On a console, I presume? Or via Steam?

On the 360. no noticeable difference.

People at the Gearbox forums have been saying that weapon tables seem to have been modified.

I have the Steam version, so nothing going for me, either.

Spent a good three hours in game earlier today. Some really intense, tooth and nail battles, including going up against Sledge’s Safehouse at level 13 (most enemies inside are 14-15) and Moe and Marley at 15 (I ran out of half my ammo types and then some.). I have transfusion grenades finally, which are nice, and two different purple combat rifles with their own brand of murder - one’s basically a six shot sniper rifle since it has a low fire rate, high accuracy, and a scope…that does murderous flame dots. The other blows through three round bursts like crazy and is doing 80-120 damage per bullet. I can go through my entire combat rifle ammo stash in one firefight with that thing, but it’s sickeningly lethal.

I did Sledge’s Safehouse at 13 yesterday, too, and hoo boy there’s some dodgy situations in there at that level. I was playing as Mordecai this time who I’m speccing into pistols but I had to toss on an SMG for the last boss. Mass bullets > plinking away at him for an hour with a pistol.

I still have Lilith left to play through and Brick if I want to do a 2nd playthrough on him, but I really can’t wait for zombie DLC.

Assuming they fix all the UI stuff (ha) my wishlist would probably read something like this:

  • difficulty setting
  • friendly fire toggle
  • port to current major hub if someone dies
  • respawn mobs when group wipes

It’s possible to port your group to the last save location with bResurrectAllPlayersWhenOneDies, I think, but if we could send the group back to New Haven or whatever if someone dies I’d really like that. Basically make it as miserable an experience as possible! It’ll be fun!

This game deserves all the praise it is receiving. Its so well done.

The art style is great, the random loot is fun, the FPS shooting is fine. Even before you get into the random varieties of loot, theres just a satisfying basic difference between the different categories of gun. They are all useful in the right situation.

The randomly generated guns add something substantial to the gameplay too. Its not just +1 damage +1 to-hit.

I like the map structure as well. Burning through the desert in a fast tough vehicle to get to quests makes you feel more like you’re in a “place” rather than a series of levels.

I hope this game is a great commercial success.

I’m sorry if it’s been mentioned before but this thread is getting really long but is there a real ‘4 stats’ issue?

I read on the Gearbox forum that items can have more than 4 stats, but they are not showing. Hence you don’t even know what the item can REALLY do, and worse, you may junk it unnecessarily.

Aaah that explains a lot. You can see later in that thread when one of the posters changes the font in the UI he can see 5 lines of stats rather than 4 and indeed there are extra effects that aren’t normally shown.

I’ve probably sold 50 guns that didn’t seem that good at a glance but were worth a fortune. Guess I’ll just have to go find another 50!

Wouldn’t surprise me in the least. You can edit just about everything else in the game so I wonder how long until the players fix it.
