That’s good news.

I also liked the music (not just the intro song but the ingame stuff as well). Is it possible to grab the ingame music from anywhere?

Also I recommend you don’t play with the gravity setting. There have been two instances where that change listed on the Borderlands boards screwed something up - jumping to get one of those flowers in the Arid Hills and in the Safehouse there is a chest under the car in the garage. You can get in but just barely cant jump out.

For Hellgate is it possible to still play this in co-op mode via Lan or some other trickery? Brink also looks like another potential Diablo FPS.

Does anyone know what the Claptrap sitting on the rocks behind the gun shop in Fyrestone is? Is it possible to get to him?

solomani,

You can do both jumps, they just need a bit more timing :)

edit: Single-player only for Hellgate, their MP was purely about their MMO side.

Word of god from the developers is that you can’t get to him.

Yeah, Hellgate only worked with their servers. One of the many nails in their coffin was their decision to skip a LAN mode.

Thank sweet holy buttfucking Jesus. I haven’t played Borderlands since the whole daylight savings time fiasco, waiting for a patch to fix all the crap that is wrong with this otherwise awesome game. I hope they really do fix a bunch of stuff so my multiplayer group can pick it up again.

The intro, at least, is a regular song that’s available from Amazon and other MP3 sites. It’s called “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked,” by Cage the Elephant (the whole album is actually pretty good). I don’t know about the rest of the music, though.

Actually, you can – just not using any “authorized” methods. Grenade jumping and vehicle punching seem to work based on the videos I’ve seen online.

That said, the claptrap is just window dressing – you can’t talk to it, target it, etc.

I saw Cage the Elephant perform live and that singer is out of his mind. They could not have picked a guy who fits the feel of this game better. They should have made him a boss character in the game lol. He was like jumpin in the crowd and screaming and he introduced himself in between every song as if he just came out to start playing

Also, I love this game. I play as a Mordecai but I don’t spec him with rifle or pistol specific skills or the bird skills. I find that you can set him up to be one bad ass meleer

Of course. But the melee is only 10 points… what’d you put the rest of your skills into?

That’s pretty much the build I’m going with.

I just finished the game last night, so I started my PT2. I’m wondering if it’s worth just grinding on the last level of PT1 since you seem to get a lot of XP. Especially since I picked up an orange shotgun I got whose bullets go directly through shields!

Unless you skipped a lot of side-quests, I don’t see how grinding for XP is ever worth it in this game. On my playthrough 2, I skipped the entire skag den area after killing Nine Toes and pretty much plowed straight through the storyline quests, and I’m still close to the recommended level for new quests.

My character was close to (but didn’t finish) the main quest. Then I joined a few friends and did the last quest (but didn’t get credit for it). I noticed playthrough #2 is now open.

a) Do I have to do all the dumb sidequests now to get claptrap backpack space? I read somewhere only playthrough #1 counts?
b) is it ok to just play on #2?

Keep playing Playthrough 2. You’ll continue to get backpack upgrades from Claptraps, even if you already got them from them before, until you get to 42.

Fantastic, Borderlands DLC was announced to be coming November 24th, before any announcement of a PC patch was made. Thanks, Gearbox!

Got home kind of late last night after a 13 hour work day. Decided to play Borderlands - its strangely relaxing - with the wife for an hour. Glad we did. We were level 14/15 respectively and decided to go after Moe and Mosely (I believe). It turned into a 45 minute running gun battle with things respawning around us a few deaths - but never at the same time - the use of every trick, gun and ammo type we had at our disposal. This game certainly is more fun multiplayer. In with two people there are a lot more “balls to the wall” situations as enemy groups are larger and more varied compared to my solo run through. We gained a level just from the killing then another from the hand in. All in all it was a memorable fight.

Playing as a soldier its frustrating to use a gun I really like - the AR - but they all have such tiny magazines so far. Hoping for a random drop or quest reward gun with a much larger magazine. My current AR as a 12 cartridge mag. That’s 4 presses of the trigger before a reload.

A soldier with a plus magazine class mod and the plus magazine “skill” (I’m boggled by the training that results in guns with bigger mags) is a sight to behold, particularly on a high fire rate weapon.

I alternate between a plus ammo and an ammo regen mod on my soldier.

There are machine guns with much larger clips but different types of burst fire. I can’t recall seeing one of the large mag guns with a scope (I’ve seen them in the 70s and 80s).

I did find an AR which was identical to the one my character is using except it did 10 less base damage, no scope and an ammo clip of 83. I like the scope so I didn’t use it. I am working my way up to the 2x magazine enhancements in the talent tree.

Holy sh*t this game is a blast. After getting frustrated with DA:O and then reading I was in some of the easiest fights of the game (thanks Redcliffe!) I loaded this up and gave it a try. Four or five fixes/tweaks later (FOV 110 FTW) and I can’t stop playing this. Needs at least one or two more UI passes but at least they allow you to mod most of the needed fixes in yourself.

I started as a soldier but given I prefer pistols and sniper rifles, I may sideline him to do my first time through with the hunter.

They may have developed it on the PC but there can be no doubt it was designed as a console game from the word go. All in all, still a GOTY contender, even with the small blemishes.
